CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #13

**edit: I have changed the butterfly on the card, before it was a pink butterfly that I cut out of Echo Park Paper but it was a little small. I replaced it with a Jenni Bowlin embellished butterfly**

Good Morning and Happy Sunday. I have been feeling a bit crafty lately so I have been taking advantage of that. I made several cards yesterday. I was able to play along with The Paper Variety and also CAS-ual Fridays. I see these beautiful clean and simple cards that Karen from The Bald Dragonfly always creates and I wanted to give it a try.

CAS intimidates me. LOL! All that white space just needs to be filled. haha. Well lucky me this week's challenge was to create a long card. 4x9. WHAT?? More white space to leave empty. Yikes!!

Well here is my card. :-)

The papers are from Echo Park's Victoria Gardens collection. And the panel that has the sentiment on it is from the sticker elements that came with the collection.

That's all for today. Be sure to stop by tomorrow. It's August 1 and I will have some amazing projects to share with you from the Delightful Designers using the August monthly kit.

Happy Crafting!!

ONE stamp, THREE different cards

Hello my friends. I was able to craft a bit today which is good because I really wanted to play along with The Paper Variety. Their challenge this week was a tic-tac-toe board. You had to chose three items in a row. I chose hand/machine stitching, use the color pink, and make a card.

A week or so ago I bought this awesome Hero Arts stamp from Michaels. I think it was my reward to myself for doing well in my classes, LOL! I have yet to use the stamp but today I decided it was time.

I made three different cards. three different techniques with the one stamp. The base of the card is a Hero Arts note card in Blush. There are three different colors in the package and I used one of each for these cards.

The stamp is called Flower Text and I absolutely love it.

In the first card I used a piece of water color paper and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then, thanks to a technique I saw on Jennifer McGuire's blog I used some distress ink, liquid pearls, and water and began to "water color" the image. As soon as I was done coloring it all in I used a moist baby wipe and smeared it across the top of the image. It sort of blended it all together. Softened some of the areas that were a bit bold with color. On the inside of this card I stamped "thinking of you."

This next card I used water color paper again and my distress inks. I tapped the ink pad in various colors all over the stamp to give it a mixture of colors. Then before I pressed the stamp on my paper I generously misted the stamp with water. I use the Mini Mister from Ranger. When it's wet it looks a little messy and watery but as soon as it dries it looks pretty cool. Then I used a stamp from Stampendous that I had in my stash to stamp the sentiment.

This last card is created using the good 'ol paper piecing. I used Echo Parks Victoria Gardens to create this card. I stamped the image in chalk ink on some white paper and then I stamped the image on various pattern papers from the Victoria Gardens collection. I began cutting and paper piecing. A couple of the pieces have been pop dotted to give a little dimension. This card I left with no sentiment.

And that is all for me this evening. I am actually not sure anymore which card to submit to TPV's challenge. I was going to submit the paper pieced one but now I don't know. :-)

Happy Crafting!!

Teeny Tiny Mini

**disclosure about the September kit - there may be a little delay in shipment. I know it's still early, heck not even August yet, but the collections I want to add to the kit are SUPER new and don't release until about the 3rd week of Aug.**

Good Morning and Happy Saturday! Oh I am almost done with summer semester. All I have left is my final in Econ on Monday. Part of it was take home and part of it is taken in class. Last night I finished the take home part. Now I just spend the next two days studying.

I told Tony that I am going to do nothing but watch tv every night for the next three weeks (craft by day, tv watching by night) while on break. LOL!! I hardly ever watch tv and sometimes I miss just laying on the couch doing nothing. Plus my daughter got my hooked on some of her shows. We don't have regular cable we just have Netflix and one of the shows she watches is Greek, it's an ABC Family show. I started watching it a couple weeks back and so I am just making my way through old episodes. I don't even know if it is still on tv. LOL! Plus I watch The Secret Life of an American Teenager. Have any of you seen those shows? I am addicted to them like they are soap operas.

Well the only tv watching I do daily is Tony and I watch a show on Netflix before bed. We have a handful of shows we like and it's great having it on Netflix. We might be a season behind but when the season comes on Netflix we usually watch it all in 1-2 weeks. It's great. Our newest fav is Modern Family. Oh my goodness I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at a show. Totally funny. We normally don't watch comedies. Some of our other favs are NCIS (new season coming out at the end of Aug), Bones, The Closer, and we just finished the 24 series.

Alright well on to the fun crafty stuff. :-) Today I have some super cute minis to share that April created using July's monthly kit.

Super cute. I don't think you can tell in the picture but the composition books she altered are super tiny. So cute to just tuck away in your purse. For more details about these minis please visit April blog. :-)

I have had a great response to the card kits so if you are interested be sure to place your order before they are all gone. I will say that with the awesome response, I will be continuing to offer the card kits. :-)

Have you seen Artful Delight's new store front? If not be sure to check it out, it's pretty. :-) I am hoping you will have a better shopping experience. Plus now it allows me to sell other products like the Echo Park collection packs. :-) There are still a few left.

Also subscriptions are handled differently now. Basically instead of being billed automatically every month, you will be sent an invoice every month on the 25th (on the day of the kit reveal). This change is only for new subscribers. Current subscribers will continue to be automatically billed. I changed this because Paypal doesn't allow for me to change dates within a subscription which means if you sign up on say the 13th, that is the day you will be billed every month and unfortunately I can't send the kit until then. So you are technically getting a kit 2 weeks after it releases and I didn't like that idea. Not only was it confusing to keep track of but I didn't like that you, the subscriber, had to wait so long to get the kit. We are still a no obligation kit club so if for some reason after you see the posted kit, you decide it's not to your liking you can skip a month. We just ask that you don't skip consecutive months and if you "sign up" for a 3 or 6 month subscription, you fulfill that many months.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. :-)

Happy Crafting!!

Random stuff

Good Morning and Happy Thursday! I finished my English class yesterday and I am so relieved. I will probably walk away with a B in that class only because I had to take the final last Saturday just after I found out my friend had passed away so my mind was not all there. I know the minimum I got on the test was an 88%. Oh well a B is still good. It just bothers me because I maintained an A the whole semester and ONE test will drop it down to a B. BUT, I am pretty certain I will get an A in Econ and that is awesome. :-)

I don't have any paper crafting projects to share with you today but I will share with you my Dora cake I made yesterday for my kids birthday.

I would like to add a disclaimer because she doesn't look the best, LOL, but it was my first cake I ever decorated.

I started decorating it a bit late (meaning really close to dinner time) and my kids were getting restless, hungry, and tired so I couldn't take my time. Plus I didn't have all the colors prepared for the decorating, the food coloring kit only came with 4 colors(I didn't have red, blue or yellow and didn't want to have to mix colors to get those colors) and so I had to make some adjustments.

Anywho, here is my cake:

I was going to make the cake from scratch but I didn't want to take the extra time so I bought a cake mix. I did however make the frosting and it was DELICIOUS, yummy Buttercream frosting. YUM!!! If you don't enlarge the photo you won't be able to see all her imperfections. LOL! I call her my Hollywood Dora, one too many plastic surgeries gone bad. LOL!

Anywho, all that mattered was Isabel and Lil Tony (without any prompting) told me she was beautiful. :-)

And last here are a couple pictures from our dinner last night. The only time we go out to eat is for our birthdays. So 5-6 times a year we make our way to a restaurant. We usually go to our favorite Mexican place in town but since it was for the kids we decided to go to Perkins. Not my favorite place by any stretch but they could get meals with fries or pancakes or something a little more kid friendly. It was a nice evening. :-)

Max was a little mad he couldn't play with my phone.

Isabel and Nicki

My Lil man Tony

Daddy and Tony

I am a little behind on my photos with my kids but this is the best one I could get last night of me and Isabel. LOL! They were not really interested in taking pictures.

Well that's all for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!! Oh and in case you don't follow Julie's blog at Life with the Tucker and Wolek Clan (which I highly recommend you do, she has tons of inspiration) she made top 3 over at GCD Studios blog and they are having a voting this morning (well until the 29th). If you could pop on over and vote for Julie's LO that would be awesome. And pop on over to Julie's blog to see all her adorable LO's.

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning my friends. Today should be a good day around here. I don't have class today, Tony has off from work, and it's my lil man Tony's 4th Birthday. I feel so sad to think next fall (2012) that I will be sending him off to kindergarten. I think I need to start stocking up on tissues now because I KNOW I will cry. And every year thereafter one of my lil ones will be starting school. I remember crying every year for like 7 or 8 years when my oldest went off to school. The next 10+ years are going to be really rough for me. LOL!!! Heck I cry when I take my son to speech therapy and I see him walk down the hall with his teacher. He is only gone for 30 min and I sit in the waiting area for him. He just looks like such a big boy. Sniff! Ok enough of that. LOL!

Today I have some awesome projects to share with you from Abby and Suzanne (the winner of Artful Delight's July monthly kit).

A new challenge is posted today over at The Paper Variety and these LO's both go along with today's challenge. This week's challenge is a tic-tac-toe. Chose any 3 items off the board to make your project. Check out the details here, as well as the awesome sponsor this week.

Good Morning my friends!! I am counting down the days until the end of the semester. Four more days including today. Only bad part is I have to write a two page paper analyzing a poem by Friday. Make everyday special

Good Morning my friends. Last night was a bit emotional for me. Someone I used to work with passed away yesterday morning. It was an older couple I worked with several years ago. We worked in a small call center that only consisted of like 8 people so we were all pretty close. I remained in touch with the wife over the years through Facebook. She messaged me to tell me her husband had passed. Apparently they had both gotten the stomach bug and his turned in to pneumonia. Yesterday morning at 3am she ended up having to perform CPR on her husband to try and keep him alive. It didn't work. So needless to say I have been really upset. The last person I lost was my grandpa and I was like 10. I don't really know how to deal with death.

Well the title of today's LO sure does put it all in perspective. You really do have to make everyday special because anything can happen.

This LO really is beautiful. It puts a smile on my face, so bright and colorful. For more details about this LO please visit Abby's blog.

Well I have an English final to go take this morning and then I will be heading to the library with my family. We have a heat advisory all day so I am assuming it's gonna be a hot one. We will be staying inside. :-)

If ya'll get a chance today (if you haven't played along already) try out this month's sketch. You have until this evening to link up your project. You are playing for August monthly kit and I can tell you just from the Delightful Designers reaction to the kit, it is one you want to win. The papers in the kit are just beautiful. And it is packed with beautiful coordinating embellishments.

Thank you

Good Morning and Happy Thursday! I am seriously so excited for the end of my summer semester. I only have one more Econ class and then I take my final and I have one week of English.
I have been browsing the web for all these cool things I want to make when I am on break in between semesters. Oh so fun! Plus in a couple days I will be revealing August monthly kit. :-)

So today I have a card to share with you. I was inspired by a card that I saw in a video tutorial Jennifer Mcguire did. Oh yeah she has been the biggest new technique enabler. LOL!! I have a shopping list prepared of all the things I need to buy. Oh my!!

Believe it or not I don't have many background stamps. Yikes! I think that is on the top of my list. I am gathering all my coupons for Michaels and Joann's and I am going shopping, plus at Joann's during the month of July they give an EXTRA 15% off your total order with proof of being a college student. :-) I AM a college student, go ME!! :-)

Anywho, the technique was painting with liquid pearls. I used some Tim Holtz distress inks, liquid pearls and a dab of water and I colored that beauty in. Another item on my list is BOLD sentiment stamps. I don't have ANY!!! That probably would have looked better than the one I used. :-)

Well that's it for today. Only 2 more days to enter the sketch challenge. Wahoo!! :-) I really am excited about Artful Delight's August monthly kit. I will be offering something new this coming month. :-)

ECHO PARK Happy Days, Holly Jolly Christmas, and Season's Greetings collections

This is my second post, click here to see my earlier post. I shared with you 2 awesome projects from Courtney and April. :-)

Here are 3 out of the 4 new collections from Echo Park. HAPPY DAYS. This is a must have in my collection. :-) Wait, ALL THREE are must haves, LOL!!

Next is the HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS collection!

And last but certainly not least, SEASON'S GREETINGS collection!!

1st Hair Cut and Thank you

Good morning fellow crafters!! Yesterday was an awesome day for me (if I can toot my own horn for a minute, lol) I took an Econ test last week and I was 110% certain I was not going to do well, let's just say I would have been surprised to see a C on my paper. I thought this because my answers were very minimal and my Prof gives short essay style tests. Well I got my test back and I got an A. I couldn't stop laughing in class because I was shocked!!!!! Then I got my grade back on my English essay I wrote, expecting a B, and I also got an A on that too.

I don't think I am a stupid person by any stretch but in high school I didn't do well, mostly because I didn't try. I was dating an older guy, hung out with the older crowd and a social life unfortunately was more important. Then this is my 3rd try at college, as a single mom I just couldn't do both before. I mostly just thought the obstacle in my life, ya know 4 kids and a house to take care of (LOL), would keep me from doing well. I just feel really good right now. :-) Maybe I should reward myself with some new crafty goodies. :-)

Anywho, today I have 2 projects to share with you that Courtney and April created using Artful Delight's July monthly kit (there is only one left).

Courtney

Courtney used this month's sketch for her card, I think it turned out fabulous!!! :-)

**This is my second post for today, click here to see the earlier post with a card that Abby created.**

Hello my friends! I started to post this on Monday morning but I had to coordinate with Courtney's and Mind Mind's Eye blog and there was a bit of delay. I had it posted for a couple hours and took it down. So if you visited on Monday morning you may have already seen this.

Anywho our Delightful Designer Courtney is guest designing for MME this month and how great is it that Artful Delight's July monthly kit is packed with MME!!! Wahooo!!!

First up is a card Courtney created using the sketch just below it. So fabulous!!

Next is a LO that she created using the sketch below it. Courtney hardly ever makes LO's but they are just as fabulous as her cards. :-) She needs to make more LO's *wink* :-)

Be sure to stop by Courtney's blog for more details about her projects and how to play along with those sketches. :-)
