Good Morning friends. It is the end of January. I just can't believe it. So if I thought my life was already crazy busy, it is about to get crazier. I found out Sunday that my landlord is planning on putting our house on the market May 1st. I don't think it will sell quick or sell at all. But just the idea of having the landlord over every week fixing the place up and then if they do have showings, YIKES! We can't be here if there are showings and sometimes I know there is little to no notice that there is going to be a showing. PLUS we don't plan on moving out of state until December. SO if they happen to sell it before we plan on moving we aren't sure what is going to happen. We certainly don't want to sign a year lease anywhere. I am not sure we can afford a furnished apartment or something of the sort. Plus we have a HUGE family, 6 people, a dog, and a cat. Not many people would be willing to put us up in their place. lol!! Oh well, we will deal with what is dealt at that time.

On to the fun stuff......I have a confession.....I am addicted to Papertrey Ink. I bought some paper and ink a few weeks back and I was hooked. I went back and got more paper, more ink, and buttons. Then I stalked Splitcoaststampers and bought up lots of PTI stuff that was being sold there. So that is where this card came from.

Everything but the Kraft cardstock and the white cardstock used in the clouds is from PTI. The stamp set is called Springtime Doodles.. Super cute set in my opinion.

I wish I had a ton more money because my wishlist with PTI is HUGE!!! I have been spending way too much money with as little craft time as I get. LOL! The purchasing new goodies to crafting ratio is not very good. LOL!

Alright well who is ready for another giveaway. It is another random box of goodies. I have been cleaning out my stuff, getting rid of extras I have had from old kits, as well as stuff that I may have used one or two things out of but won't use again. It is a great box of stuff.

Happy Monday my friends. Well my evening class was canceled today but we were given a homework assignment to do that is due on Wednesday so I will still be busy with school tonight.

This morning I have to take my monthly trip an hour away to my daughter's ortho. She has had her braces on for almost 2 years and I am REALLY hoping today's visit brings good news that they will come off VERY soon.

We have two more days left in this month and two more days of amazing inspiration using our January card kit. Both January kits are now sold out.

She has done an amazing job picking out goodies for our March kit. And of course they will be SUPER NEW collections just being released in February.

Happy Sunday my friends!! Have you enjoyed your weekend so far?? I am headed to Michaels to knit with some lady friends today. It should be good friend. I know how to make scarves and hats and finger-less gloves but I would love to know how to make a really cool blanket or shawl or something.

TGIF my friends!!! I cannot believe how fast these weeks are going. Just can't believe it. I am glad the week is over even though I have to work the next two days. I do however, have off on Sunday and I think I am going to spend the afternoon at Michaels knitting with some of the ladies (the knitting instructor and two ladies from her class last week). The instructor is going to bring some patterns and show us all how to make things other than hats and scarves. LOL!!! Too bad next Winter I plan on being in all year round warm climates but I will know how to knit cool stuff and I can make stuff for my friends and family in the cold!! :-)

Good Morning my friends. I am so sad to not be heading to CHA this year. One of these years it is my goal to make it. Next year I will be living a whole lot closer to the Winter CHA so I am thinking I will be there!!! I am super excited about all the awesome collections this time. There are SOOOO MANY that I just love. Putting together kits for the next 6 months should be fun!!! :-)

Speaking of kits, did you see the February kit reveal yesterday???? Sadly (well not really sad) the card kits are ALREADY sold out. I can't believe how good they have been doing. I said I wasn't going to put any more card kits together but I may just have to. It isn't even the 1st and we have none left. YIKES!!! AND the scrapbook kits are selling too....so you may want to pre-order if you think you may want one.

If you want a February card kit, email me and we can pre-order them for you. I will just ask for a $5 deposit for the kit and you will not be charged the rest until I ship the kits. I may not put anymore together if I don't get any pre-orders, so send me an email if you are interested. :-)

GOOOOOOOD Morning!! So we got some snow last night but it was only a little ground covering. The problem is it is super cold so the ground is super slippery. I hate when the weather is like this because Tony has to drive over an hour each way to work. It is up and down through the mountains and he always sees others stranded on the side of the road. I would hate to think that would ever be him. He did get to work safe this morning so that is a plus!!

Sending you Thanks (faux metal)

Hello my friends. It is cold and rainy here in Virginia and I don't like it. LOL!! I decided not to go to Panera Bread this morning and do homework. The only "homework" I officially have this semester is for a class called Project and Seminar. It is a class that coincides with my Intermediate Accounting class. It's online and kinda self paced. I finished my first paper for that class and it isn't even due until next Wed. The next paper isn't due for 3 weeks now. SO, I decided to stay home and craft. *GASP* LOL!!

Who is a fan of Kristina Werner's work? Let's see a show of hands (now let's see a show of hands of those that actually just raised their hand, lol)......Do you ever do that when you are talking on the phone or something? Not raise your hand per say but are you really animated and do you use a lot of hand gestures even though you know no one can see you? Oh I am totally that way. LOL!

Anywho, well I am a big fan of Kristina's and have been for over 2 years. A couple months back I saw her first tutorial on how to make faux metal and I was determined at some point to try that technique. When I searched Kristina's blog for her faux metal tutorial, I have come to realize she has been sharing this technique since 2006.

Ok so anyway, I have this gorgeous paper from Authentique's Uncommon collection. Oh so beautiful. I thought a faux metal sentiment would look awesome. So I set to work on creating this card.

I just love the way this card turned out. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. Isn't this technique AWESOME. I almost think I am addicted. I want to make many, many more cards with a faux metal sentiment.

Now I haven't watched all of Kristina's faux metal tutorials but I think the ones I did see show her just using a bigger sheet of paper and then cutting out the sentiment area. For mine I cut the label die cut first, used some removable adhesive to hold it on to a larger sheet while I embossed and then VERY carefully lined the sentiment on the label.

A Bestie Day

Happy Monday!! What a morning. Nothing too hectic but I didn't get to bed until sometime after midnight and then I had high hopes of getting up at 6am and making it to Panera Bread to get some homework done. Yeah, that didn't happen. I was up on and off all night with my kids (they like to sleep in bed with us and I end up sleeping at the foot of the bed curled up like a dog, lol....not really comfy). So I didn't get up until almost 8. Then I had to run to the store because we ran out of butter and Tony needed it to make some hamburger buns. We are having homemade sloppy joe for dinner, Y-U-M-M-Y!!!! So now I have arrived at Panera to realize that I brought the wrong laptop. :-( All the papers I started writing last week were on my personal laptop that is too big to carry around. My school laptop is the one I brought with me. UGH!!! So now I have to find something else to work on. :-( Oh well.

I did want to get this post made before I started my homework, sorry it's a little late getting posted.

WOW, all the detail that went in to this card. Love it. I have put together a few more card kits and they are now available at Artful Delight. The only thing that sold out in the kit was the Jillibean Soup note card and envelope set. I have been trying to get my hands on more but they have been out of stock for so long. Ugh. BUT to replace those I have added additional cardstock to the kit. So each card kit will include 8 sheets of each color for a total of 24 sheets of 8 1/2x11 cardstock. AWESOME!!!

Good Morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! What are your plans for the weekend? Well I have to work all 3 days but I am going to try and squeeze in some crafty time. Good Morning!! It has been cold and rainy here the last couple days. YUCK!! I can handle cold and I can handle rain but I can't handle the two together. :-( Oh well, hopefully this will be my last winter here. So it is almost the end of the first week of school and I am totally excited, only 15 weeks to go. :-) LOL!

Yesterday I did a little crafting. I have been on a shopping spree, not spending that much but I just want new things. I want new product. I want to buy, buy, buy!! A couple weeks ago I bought some Papertrey Ink goodies and then I also went in to my LSS the other day and bought a new Hero Arts stamp.

With those goodies I set out to make these two cards. Well it will be a set of Thank You cards eventually but I had to go back and get stuff from Papertrey Ink so I am waiting for that to come in the mail.

I bought 6 new ink pads but I only bought 2 of the Perfect Match cardstock. I also bought some dies and the white note card set.

With the two cards I used the white note cards for the base and I also used the coordinating ink and cardstock, all from Papertrey Ink. LOVE these colors. The "Thank You" stamp was an exclusive and I am not even sure if it is sold separate.

Good morning fellow crafters!! It is half way through my first week of this semester and I think I am going to make it through with no problems. My classes are all just the second half of what I took last semester. So, same professors and mainly the same students in the class. I have high hopes for this semester and finishing my Associates degree with a good GPA!! :-)

I am so excited about the response to this month's sketch challenge. Hello my crafty friends! Today I have some cards to share with you that I created. They all sort of go together as a card set. I have a couple more to make but I thought I would share with you what I have created so far.

My all time favorite new stamp is one of the Basic Grey/Hero Arts cling stamps. It is a background stamp. It coordinates with Basic Grey's Out of Print collection. I just love it!! I bought mine at my LSS but here is a link to the stamp. Click here!

The last card I haven't added a sentiment yet but I think it is my favorite mix of colors. Basically all I did was white embossed the background stamp on a standard sized white card base. Then I sponged on a variety of distress inks, changing up the color combo for each card. I think I like the last one the most because it has a little bit of each of the colors I have.

And that's it. Just slap on a sentiment and you have a super easy card.

Good Morning and Happy Monday! Back to school for me. I am both excited and sad. I am excited to get the "party started" (lol) but I am sad because I have to get back to school and homework and maybe not any craft time. :-( But as soon as this semester is over it is all uphill from there. I will only have 2 classes to take and I should be able to find a job.....a REAL job.

Good Morning my friends! I am super excited today because I get to share a couple of LO's and they were created by ME!! :-) Oh yeah I crafted and it felt Grrrrr-eat!!

A couple weeks ago we took the kids to Monkey Joe's. It is an indoor play area filled with bounce houses. My kids had a blast. This LO features my 4 year old playing and having a good time. This whole LO is created using the January scrapbook kit.

Good Morning and Happy Saturday! It is a new month which means we have another Guest Designer. This month we get to see the awesome creativity from Suzanne from Scrap with Suzy.

Suzanne was sent the January scrapbook kit to play with and here is her first project.

Good Morning! WOW, only 4 more days until my Spring semester starts. I can't say my break went fast I just can't believe the end is so close. Only 4 months and I am pretty much done with my Associates (other than 2 elective classes I need to take). I will actually get to graduate with everyone in May. I didn't attend my high school graduation and I think this would be awesome for my children to see me graduate (especially my oldest daughter), so I think it will be a special day. :-)

Good Morning! Well it's a snow day today for my daughter. We got less than an inch of snow and they called off school. It is super cold out so maybe the roads are icy. Oh well, kinda nice when she is home she sometimes does well entertaining the kids. :-) I really would like to make some LO's today.

Today's card is super cute and created by our Delightful Designer, June. She used the January card kit which is temporarily sold out. I am putting more together and have an estimated ship date of 1/10/12.

Happy 2012!! I am so excited to get this year started. Eight days until school starts back up and this will be my last full semester until I graduate with an Associates in Accounting. Eventually I will continue at a university though.

I hope everyone had a wonderful evening ringing in the new year. Mine was spent home with my family, exactly where I wanted to be. :-) I don't usually stick to any New Year's resolutions but this year I have one...SAVE FOR OUR MOVE!!! I have about 8-9 months to save enough to move 2200 miles away, pay movers to do it, AND enough for a down payment on a house. We have some saved but we need probably 5 times what we have. LOL!!

Next we have a LO created by Abby using the January sketch and the January card kit. That's right I said she used the card kit for a LO. I told you she was amazing!! I love that even though the LO is left a bit CAS it still has the right amount of added embellishments to make it look delightful!!

I used the Jillibean Soup papers that are included in this month's kit. The pattern paper is called Canola Oil from the Hearty Barley collection and it is filled with adorable hearts. I cute a bunch out, adhered them to some Kraft cardstock (also included in the kit) and then I stitched some lines through the hearts. I got this idea from a LO featured in the February Scrapbooks etc. magazine. I used a stamp from the December card kit and I also outlined the hearts to give them a little pop.

Happy New Year's Eve! What are your plans for the evening? Mine will be spent home with my family, well after I get off work tonight and then when the lil ones go to bed maybe a little crafting and then a quiet evening with my love watching some TV and relaxing.

Today is the 31st, the last day of the month, the last day of the year and unfortunately the last day for our Guest Designer Karen to share her projects here in Artful Delight. I hope over this month you have become a follower of Karen's blog (if you weren't already). Karen really is talented and I love the cards she creates and the new techniques she shares on her blog. I have been a follower of her blog for quite some time and I was super excited to have her guest design using one of our kits.

Good Morning and Happy Friday. I am in disbelief that the new year is only 2 days away. I have a good feeling 2012 is going to be a good year for my family. I was able to get some crafting in last night and I will probably share those with you over the weekend. BUT, I volunteered myself to create a Smash book for display at Michaels. I have always wanted to try one out but couldn't pull myself to spend the money because A) I can make my own "smash book" and B) It is more like a journal and honestly my life is busy but not with anything worth documenting on a daily or even weekly basis. The pooper is that when I thought I had a couple weeks to get this together (that's why I offered to do it) I found out that it needs to be done by next week. UGH!!

So 2 nights ago (after I got it) I sat in bed brainstorming ideas of what I could do this Smash Book on. Since it cannot be done over time like I think it is intended to be I had to think of a bunch of stuff that may have already happened or will happen that I know about....does that make sense? So it hit me.....It will be "goodbye 2011 hello 2012....a look in to our past, present, and future." Between all that has happened in the last year (year and a half) with school and Artful Delight as well as with my kids to what is going to happen in 2012.

Tony and I will both have our Associates degree, we plan a move across country where we will buy our first house together (Tony owned one prior to us getting together and we have rented since we got together), Lil Tony will start kindergarten...There are just so many things that I have to look forward to, work towards and plan for. I really am excited for 2012 to get started.

But before we can ring in the new year we have a couple more projects to share with you. Today's project was created by our Delightful Designer, Kelly using the December scrapbook kit.

Happy Wednesday. Ahhh, it feels so great that life has calmed down a little. I still have a week and a half until I start school. I have all the kits put together and ready to ship. Score Layout and Spool Wall Hanging

Good morning. I hope everyone had a splendid holiday. I feel sad to say I am kinda excited it's over. With all the hours I picked up at work and everything else going on, my life was a big blur. I can sit back relax and take the time to get life organized. Lol!

So this morning I will share some projects that our Delightful Designer, Julie created using our December monthly kit. Then later today I will be back with the kit reveal and this month's sketch challenge winner.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

Good morning my friends!!! I would like to wish all of you and your families a VERY Merry Christmas!! I woke up to the sounds of my kids "ooohhhh," "WOW" to all the gifts under the tree.....the best part is they weren't expensive toys and they didn't get that many but they were VERY happy with everything they got.

Today is the 25th and usually we do the kit reveal today but since most of you are probably spending the day with your family and may not be online blog hopping, I thought I would hold off until tomorrow. :-) Today I will just share with you a frame I made for my Grandma. I used some papers from the December kit and I used some Thickers and bling from the January kit.

I started with a $1 frame from Michaels and some acrylic paint. I couldn't match the paint color just right so there is actually like 15 layers of paint on the frame. LOL!! First I wanted a blue, then I thought maybe just white and then I changed to this orangy color. It went well with the flowers on one of the Authentique papers in our December kit. :-)

So I painted the frame and then I traced and cut that white paper. I adhered it with Mod Podge then coated the top with Mod Podge to seal it.

I used my Tim Holtz sander to rough up the edges, give it a distressed look. And since there was white underneath the orange it turned out really cool. Then I fussy cut the flowers and adhered them. I used some Glossy Accents (thank you for the idea Abby!) I also used some bling from the upcoming January kit on the largest flower.

Then I used the Thickers from the January kit (more on those tomorrow) and painted them with the same orange paint as the rest of the frame.

And that's it. Sent it to my Grandma a little late but I am happy to report she got it on Friday! LOL! :-)

Good Morning!! I cannot believe it is Friday and only 2 days away from Christmas. I feel a bit overwhelmed. Not necessarily because I didn't finish shopping or anything, I just feel my time is so limited over the next few days to get to the store and finish all the things that need to be done. So, I am going to keep this short. :-)

Good Morning my friends!! It will be a busy few days around here. I have to finish my Christmas shopping today, yikes what was I thinking. I also have to finish a scrapbook that a friend asked me to help her with for her m-i-l. I realized a few things while I have been making my way through creating the pages: 1) creating a LO is really tough without a photo and 2) creating a scrapbook for someone you don't know(especially without photos) is even more tough. The problem that I ran in to is when I was at her house last week getting it started she kept mentioning "my m-i-l would like this" meaning specific style I guess. Well I was trying to keep true to that and I was not having any luck being creative. So last night when I felt all creativity leave my brain I not only turned to a scrapbook magazine for help but I also went a little more "my style." Because her m-i-l is not a scrapper, I left the pages super simple, leaving a spot for a photo and I also adhered some double sided tape to where the photo should go so all she has to do is cut the photo down and then remove the backing of the tape and slap it in place. Simple enough, right?

I feel bad because the pages that are my favorite are the ones that are more my style and that I created using inspiration from the magazine. Oh well, I am sure her m-i-l will love it.

So anywho, then tonight I have to close at work (until 11pm), then tomorrow I have to work until midnight and then Christmas Eve I work 1:30-6:30. I feel sad that the time from Halloween until Christmas just FLEW by. Like seriously, I don't feel I got to enjoy the anticipation of each holiday. Do you know what I mean? I will however be happy to start the new year. I feel really good things are in the works for my family for 2012.

Well on to today's project, it was created by our Delightful Designer, Abby using the December card kit. Now I love all of Abby's work but I think this is one of my absolute favs.

Good Morning! Are you all ready for Christmas? I am so not ready. I think since my daughter's first day of holiday break is on Thursday, I will take that opportunity to run out and get all my last minute shopping done. I am not thrilled about it but Friday and Saturday I have to work this week which isn't that big of a deal usually but Friday I have to work until midnight. Are there really people that shop at 11pm at Michaels on Christmas Eve eve? Well I guess it will be a fun night we are going to make a party out of the night. Ordering pizza and having cookies and sweets. I mean I would rather be at home but it should be ok. And then I have to work Christmas Eve. Still not that big of a deal, my kids are too young to understand the day and since we have no family out here to spend it with it will be ok. Just stinks because Tony actually has Saturday and Sunday off for the holiday. Oh well!

Happy Monday my friends. Today I will be driving to my daughter Ortho for her monthly visit. So much for a Christmas present and having them removed. The doc said a couple months back that he might be able to take them off around Christmas....well don't think that will happen. Oh well. I know it's coming soon and I can't wait to see her pretty smile. :-)

Then I am hoping to come home and make some cookies with my kids. No work for me today, YAY!!

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!! I am so excited because last night I purchased some stuff to make candies and cookies with my kids. Michaels is having a super sale on Christmas stuff and it was really cheap so I got a bunch of melting chocolate and molds and cookie cutters. They will have so much fun decorating the cookies. I have to work all weekend so I will have to wait until next week to do it but that's ok. :-)

Happy Friday! We are just about a week away from Christmas, can you believe it? I wait all year for this time of year and it just seemed to come and go. In addition, I have been putting in extra hours at work which I think I will miss a little when the holidays are over (maybe not the being away from my kids but the money part of it). Hello my friends! I have a super quick post for you today. It is T minus 8 1/2 hours before I need to submit my final test with Business Law and other than reading the questions and noting which page I might find the answer on, I haven't done a thing. Twelve essay style questions. But then I am DONE!!!! :-)

Oh and I know it is a little early as it seems like this DT term just started but be on the lookout beginning of next year for the next term DT call. Happy Monday!! Wow, what a whirlwind of a weekend. I worked 10 hours on Saturday and we were slammed (super busy) all day!! Then I worked a 7.5 hour shift yesterday, I didn't take a break ALL day. I think they forgot about giving me even a pee break. LOL!! There was a line for about 4 hours that extended to the back of the store. Yikes!!! Now I have 2 tests to complete in 2 days......I am about to head out to Panera so I can have some time to do it. Then tonight we are going to visit Santa and go out to dinner to celebrate my son's birthday (that was last week). I feel very absent from the craft world these days. I am hoping to get some time to visit everyone's blogs and craft over the next couple weeks.

EEEeeek, I just love it all!!! Those barrettes are SOOOO cute, she used the Basic Grey metal flower embellishments that are included in the kit to make those. LOVE it!!

This next card was created using the Authentique pattern papers and icons from the kit. (swoon!! every time I see that wood grain embossing I am determined to get that embossing folder, unfortunately none of my LSS have it)

TGIF!!! For most, a Friday is a happy day, it is the beginning of their weekend. For me it is the start of my work week(end). Good Morning and happy Wednesday! I want to wish my sweet little baby boy, Max, a very Happy 2nd Birthday!!! Two years ago was so bitter sweet. It was the birth of my second son and my 4th child. A very happy moment indeed but it was also the day that I would have my last child. It was an extremely emotional day. Words cannot even begin to describe how much I love my children and miss them when I am not home. The last year (being in school so much and now working on weekends) has been really tough but I know in the end it will be all worth it. I would not change my life for anything. As much as I say winning the lotto and/or just having tons of money would change for the better, a happy home is not filled with money and materialistic things. A happy home is filled with love and we all love each other so very much. I tried to take a picture with my kids this morning but they were NOT having it. They pretty much ran. LOL!!

My Baby

Happy Monday my friends!! This is going to be a good week, it's my last week of my Fall semester. :-) Which means I will have about 4 weeks to relax and craft. I am so excited. I'm on a slow road to recovery(going on 2 weeks of being sick). I really am hoping by the end of this week that I will be ALL better. My kids just started getting sick over the weekend. I don't think they will get it as bad as Tony and I did but they are certainly not feeling well. I need to get on my rubber gloves with my bleach water and disinfect my house.

Good Morning my friends. Got a little bit of a late start, so sorry about that. I am on day 10 of my sickness. :-( Thankfully I think I am on the road to recovery. Tony, however, is at the peak of his sickness. We have been together for 6 years and I have never seen him call in sick to work. NEVER! Well today he did or at least he is trying to but his boss is not being nice about it. He must feel really crappy to call in. I just hope (fingers crossed) that none of my kids get sick like we have been. I guess it's our bodies telling us we are working too hard. LOL!

Anywho, TGIF!!! Friday's don't mean much around my house (I actually dread them) because Tony works all weekend, I work all weekend, so there is no down time on the weekends. But for those that get the weekend to relax, I hope it is pleasant and filled with crafty time. :-)

Happy Wednesday my friends. I am still not feeling well. I must say I will never take being healthy for granted again. I never realize how great it is to be healthy until I am completely miserable and sick. I have to dose up on medicine just to get going, to do a load of dishes or laundry or to make it to school. Thankfully I have just under 2 weeks left of school for this semester. I bet by then I will feel a ton better though which I guess is good. Just in time to have a month off and be able to craft. I really have been itching to craft. LOL!

Anywho, the end of the month seems so bitter sweet sometimes. It is the close of a month filled with amazing projects using an amazing kit created by amazingly talented designers. But it is all the beginning of a new month where those amazing designers get to showcase another delightfully amazing kit. I REALLY love December's kit. I hope you will join us tomorrow when I share the kit, the new sketch, and a fabulous LO!!

Good Morning and happy Monday my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was filled with rest and work. And now today it is back to school after having the last week off. Good news is I only have 2 more weeks of this semester. I CANNOT wait to be done. I had no homework over the holiday break and it felt great. I need to get my craft space organized so I can craft while I am in between semesters.

Good Morning my friends! Sadly I still feel crummy. Just when I thought I was at my 'peak' of my sickness, I would get worse. Now it has moved in my chest. Ugh, I just need to feel better already. LOL!!

But on to today's project because it is a beauty!! Our Delightful Designer, Abby, created this lovely sleigh using the November Monthly kit. :-) I think it is absolutely delightful!!

Good Morning my friends!! I hope you had a wonderful turkey day. Even though I didn't feel the best I managed to make 3 pies. :-) It was awesome to just hang out with the family without work or school to take up our day. We haven't done that in almost 3 months.

Joy of Christmas

Happy Sunday my fellow crafters. It is gloomy here in Virginia and expected to rain. UGH!! I did hear the best news yesterday; I found out Tony doesn't have to work on Thanksgiving either. He is in management for a grocery store and we were both certain he was going to have to work. BUT since his boss has to be there and there is no need for both of them to be there she is giving him the day off. YAY!!! A day of family time and yummy cooking. We will be having our traditional Thanksgiving feast; turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, and homemade biscuits. Then for dessert we will be making blueberry pie, apple pie (My FAV), french silk pie, and pecan pie. We have been trying to get in to the tradition of watching A Christmas Story but the lil ones only make it so far in that movie. One day they will enjoy it and we can spend the evening curled up watching the movie. :-)

Christmas Ornament (picture tutorial)

Good Morning my friends!! I hope your weekend has started off right. Yesterday I didn't have school or work and it felt great to not do much. I was in the mood to snuggle on the couch and watch a Christmas movie and the only thing I could find on "watch now" on Netflix is the remake of Miracle on 34th Street. I enjoyed it. :-)

Well on to the fun stuff. So earlier this week I stopped in my LSS and they had this super cool paper ornament. They told me it was from a Basic Grey ornament kit. The kit had die cut circles that were already scored, basically all you had to do was assemble it. As awesome an idea that was, I couldn't pull myself to buy the kit so I went home and decided I was going to use papers from the November kit to make an ornament. Now, Tony is a Math whiz so I asked him to use a mathematical equation to figure out where the score lines were to go and of course he was able to figure it out. LOL!!

Now I am a little rusty at trying to give "directions" clearly in writing but I am going to give it a try. I hope I don't confuse you. LOL!!

Don't be intimidated by making this ornament for yourself. Once you mark off the "score spot" the rest is super easy. So let's begin.

First thing you want to do is chose your papers. I chose 5 papers from the November kit.

Now I chose to use my Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle Dies, but I think next time to make it faster I will use my Cricut. I had to cut 20 circles out. It didn't take a long time but I think I could have saved a little more time (read: I won't get a cramp in my hand from cranking the Cuttlebug 20 times, lol) with my Cricut.

I used the 3" circle die. With the measurements I give you, you need to make sure the circles are 3".

Now I have my 20 circles. I don't have a picture of it but next I inked the edges with some of my Colorbox Chalk Ink. I wanted to do it with my Walnut Distress Ink but my pad was a little "dried out," not really but I had to ink the edges of 20 circles, I wasn't sure it would make it.

Next is the "tricky" part. Grab your score board, whether it's the Martha Stewart Score Board or Scor-Pal, doesn't matter. Grab some masking tape or easily removable tape and a ruler.

You are going to measure, 2 9/16". Along the grove, place a tape at 0 and then at 2 9/16".

Next you are going to grab one of your circles and your bone folder or scoring tool.
Keep sliding your circle over until they line up like the photo below. Just until the "edges" match the bottom right corner of the tape. Does that make sense?

Use your scoring tool that and score from one end to the other like the photos below.

Then you will spin the circle and line the end of the one score line with the edge of the tape and score. Check out the photo below.

Keep working your way around until you have created a scored triangle.

Score a triangle on each of your circles. The next step is up to you. You can either embellish the circles with pictures, stickles, bling, or really whatever you would like. If you chose to add some pictures you will do the same steps above. Cut out the circles and score a triangle.

I chose some of my favorite photos and lined the circle die on the photo where I wanted it cut. (I don't have photos of that step)

After you cut the circles and score the triangle you will cut out the triangle. Make sure you cut to the inside of the score lines. You want your triangle to lie inside the score lines on your patterned paper circles. Are you with me so far??

Adhere the photos to random circles. I chose to adhere them to mostly the solid colors. That is really your chose though.

Ok, so if you have stayed with me this long then we are in the home stretch. Now I made several of these ornaments so I could figure out the best way to assemble the dome. I really had no idea how to tackle this. I will show you the way I figured out how I could best assemble and explain. If you try and make one of these and find an easier way to assemble it then by all means use it. I must say I was a bit frustrated until I assembled it this last way that I am going to explain.

Here we go: First you will take 5 random circles. That is why I chose 5 different pattern papers. Now if you can think of this dome having a cluster of 5 circles for the "top", 5 for the "bottom" and 5 for each "side" that may help in visualizing how to put the together.

The photos I am going to share won't match each other in the process because as I said I made several of these ornaments in order to get it right. LOL! So you will take 5 of the circles and adhere them as I have above. Actually take 10 of the circles and make two separate 5 circle clusters. One for the top of the dome and one for the bottom.

The next step is to build the sides. This part is hard to explain so I will just share photos.

Did any of those photos make sense. You used 10 circles already to make the top and bottom so you will be piecing the other 10 circles around the sides. Ultimately what you will want 5 open flaps at the top so you can adhere the "top" of the dome.
As you are adhering the top of the dome, you will want to take some ribbon and adhere it in between one of the flaps so you can hang it.

Above you will see two photos of the finished ornament. And there ya have it. So what do you think? I really wish I would have had time to make a video to share but this past week after my kids went to bed I was in class and there is no way possible to film a video when they are awake. LOL!! I hope you will give this a try. I REALLY like the way it turned out. If you do make one I would love to see your finished project, please leave me a comment with a link to your project.

It may seem like a lot but once I figured out how to assemble the dome it really came together pretty quick. Probably took me no longer to make this ornament than it would have to make a card or LO. No longer than an hour and I would say most of that was cutting the circles. I will be making more over the next few weeks and I will be hanging them on my tree. With my lil ones I am not able to have fragile ornaments, last year they broke them all.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! I am so excited that I don't have to go back to school for over a week and I have NO HOMEWORK!! I was able to make a really cute project the other day that I will be able to share with you tomorrow. :-) I am still working on getting December kits together and will continue through the weekend. I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving already, this month flew by!

Good Morning!!! So I am officially caught up on all my school work. YAY!! Christmas Traditions and a giveaway!

Good Morning my friends!!! I feel a sigh of relief because last night I turned in the last of my homework that was assigned 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have been a nervous wreck the last few weeks trying to get it all done. I probably won't have anymore homework assigned this semester, all that's left is finals. YAY!!! Guess what that means?? I might actually get to craft, GO ME!!! LOL!!

Today I have an adorable LO to share with you that Julie created using the November monthly kit. :-) Christmas Traditions. What are your Christmas traditions? Unfortunately since moving away from my family 8 1/2 years ago I haven't established any traditions with my family yet. My kids have been just a little too young to truly understand. But before I guess the only traditions we really had were Christmas on my dad's side of the family was always the Saturday before Christmas, that way we knew we could all get together. All my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my grandma. I LOVED it!! Then Christmas Eve was always spent at my dad's with my grandma, we played this card game and I can't for life of me remember the name. THEN Christmas day was spent at my mom's house. I sure do miss my family. And unfortunately this holiday season we will not get to spend it together again. It has been over 9 years since I spent a holiday with my family. :-( Enough of that sadness, I have my kids and Tony and we will start our own traditions!!! :-)

Making a list

Happy Monday fellow crafters!! I know most of you (well probably all of you) wish the weekends were longer and hate that it's Monday already but I am happy the weekend is over. It was long....I worked ALL day on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday I was at work from 10-5 and I didn't stop once in that 7 hours. It was so busy, the customers just kept coming. In 7 hours I don't think I moved from my register but maybe once or twice and that was to put carts away or something. LOL!! Then I had to come home and make our pizza dinner. We are lucky if we get a family dinner together once a week so even though I was asked to stay late yesterday (originally only scheduled until 3:30) I wasn't going to let that stop us from having dinner together. Got home, made the pizza dough, pizza sauce, prepared the buffalo chicken, shredded some cheese and then waited for Tony to get home. All together I made 5 pizzas and 2 lbs of chicken. We only ate 3 of the pizzas but that just means leftovers, YAY!!! Anywho, it was long and I am glad it's over. Now if I can finish my homework that's due tomorrow, I can take a deep breathe and relax a bit.

Happy Friday! Happy 11-11-11! Happy Veteran's Day! Happy end of week 10 (for my Fall semester)! I will say the one thing I AM NOT happy about and I will leave this short because it is a decently long story, I was at a disadvantage on my Math test last week.... I think my Professor was trying to sabotage me. We had an agreement day 1 of this semester that I only would have to show up for classes I think I need to come to (stuff I knew I needed to learn). I had emailed her several days prior to last weeks test and asked a question, she failed to respond (even though she responded to emails just before that one and one email I sent after that one) and so the day of the test I found out I was allowed one sheet of paper with notes on it. The email that I had sent that she didn't respond to was asking about the test, whether she was going to provide the formulas needed or if we had to memorize them. I studied for 6 hours the 2 days prior to the test but there was just too much to remember. So, yeah, I had less than 5 min to make a "cheat sheet". Let's just say....I am in my 4th semester, 16th class and getting a 74% on the test is my FIRST "C" since starting last Fall. AND there was another guy in the class that missed that information too and she let him take the test in the testing center on a different day, that way he could make some good notes, I was not given that same opportunity. Good Morning and Happy Monday!! The time is now 7:02am and I have been at Starbucks for almost 2 hours trying to get some homework done. I have never taken this long to do homework. I got the assignment over a week ago, it is due today at 5:30pm and as of 5:30am, I was only half complete. Yikes!!!! I tried to work on it last night at 8pm but I just kept reading the questions over and over again and in about an hour I might have answered ONE question. So up before the sun this morning, headed to Starbucks, started my day with some SUPER strong coffee and I sat here and completed my test. YIPPEEE!!!

I have another test due on Wednesday and then I should be all caught up. AND I am in the home stretch of my semester. The only tests/homework left in all my classes is my "finals." They aren't even really finals. They are take home tests given the week before finals week and we have a week to complete them.

Anywho, I have an awesome LO to share with you that our Delightful Designer, Julie, created using the November monthly kit. AND this month's sketch.

Look at those adorable faces in that photo, so precious. And the LO....LOVE that Julie used the kit and was able to show how it could be used not for a "winter" theme. Alright well I have one question left to finish, I was just trying to clear my head so I can answer the question. Business Law is tough. My moral side always wants to answer the question and unfortunately what I think is right or wrong is not always what the law states. LOL!!

Happy Sunday my friends. Did y'all remember to set your clocks back? Oh what a week it has been. I cannot wait until the break in between semesters. All I am going to do is craft, knit, and veg on the couch. I deserve 3 weeks of relaxation right? It won't be complete relaxation because I will still have to do work around the house and hang out with my kids but when they go to sleep it will be all about me. LOL!!!

This last week I didn't have very many projects to share using the new November kit and I apologize but I do have some amazing things to share with you over the next couple days.

Today's LO was created by Abby!!! I LOVE Abby's ability to "cluster" her embellishments without having them look "cluttered".

Happy Friday!!!! I am going to leave this post short and sweet. It has been a really rough week and I am glad it's (almost) over.

I am terribly sorry I haven't had very many projects to share with you so far this month using the new kit but I will have a ton to share with you over the coming weeks.

Happy Wednesday!!! So last night I didn't have class. I have two classes on Tuesday nights and the Professor is the same for both. So four hours in the same room with the same guy. LOL! He is a great Professor, pretty laid back. Well he is really in to civil war reenactments and such so he went away for a week to do a tour in GA or something. Anywho, NO CLASS!! Wahoo. So we had family dinner and a movie which is pizza and buffalo chicken. Then I had signed up for a knitting class at Michaels. Nice perk, employees get to take classes for free. I thought the class was on the 8th but to my surprise it was last night.

Being left handed made it really difficult to learn from a right handed teacher. She had a tough time teaching me. LOL! But alas, I went home with ONE hand warmer. It's like a fingerless glove. I have been practicing all morning to get the other warmer made before Saturday when I work so I can show her.

Good Morning my friends (It's almost afternoon by now, blogger was being difficult this morning and I had to take my kids to school, couldn't finish before I left). Today is the 1st which means the November kit is officially on sale. Before getting in to that though I would like to say one last goodbye to Courtney and April. One year ago today we started off together and they have been amazing. Super talented and sweet ladies that I had the pleasure to work with for the last 12 months. I am fortunate to call them my friends and I wish them luck with all their future adventures!!

With that said I would like to welcome the new Delightful Designers. We "met" them in September during my birthday blog hop but let's welcome them to the Nov-April Delightful Designer term. I am super excited to see what the next 6 months brings to Artful Delight. We have 4 very talented ladies joining us.

Good Morning and Happy Monday! Oh wow was this weekend crazy. With my power going out and then having to work until 9:30 Saturday and working Sunday 12-7, I am trying to get caught up with everything. Laundry, dishes, homework, playing with my kids, returning emails, blogging........AND to top it I woke with a really bad headache this morning. Hopefully nothing an Aleve and some coffee won't fix. LOL!! Thankfully this is the week that my Professor for 2 of my classes will not be in town so NO CLASS!! So Tuesday night no class and the only class on Thursday I have is my Math class so I can take a test. AND there is only 6 weeks left of this semester (including this one which should be pretty easy going).

Happy Halloween to all!! What do you have planned? Well I was going to skip class tonight and take my kids trick or treating BUT Tony will be in class and I just don't think I could handle taking the 3 lil ones out by myself. It is super cold here today and so I decided that we will not be going out trick or treating. I feel really bad but thankfully they are still super young and they won't remember not going. There are so many more years that we will be able to go! Tony and I just need to get past this next year and then things should calm down a bit (with school at least).

So I know it is not the 1st of November yet and the new kit hasn't officially been released yet BUT I have a super cute project to share with you today that our newest DT member Marlene created using the scrapbook kit.

Oh what a lovely morning! Let me start by giving a list of things I am thankful for this morning:

heat
electricity
TV
Internet
hot water

These are all the things I was without for about 7 hours yesterday. It may have been ok if I didn't live in an old house and have 4 restless children. Let's start by saying if you live on the east coast you may have experienced this:
Yup, that's snow. Not even November and we get a snow storm. At 9am yesterday power went out. By 10am it was cold enough in my house that we needed to be fully clothed with a few layers. By 1pm we were snuggled under blankets and wearing coats. LOL!! I was supposed to be at work at 1:30pm. I drove down there to get some candles and ask if it was ok I came in later. They were super slow so they didn't mind I didn't come in until 4. I went home and snuggled with my kids. Honestly the 3 lil ones were super warm, didn't seem bothered by the ice cold house. Well since I bought a lighter with the candles, around 3pm I lit the stove so we could make some warm food. As I was headed out around 3:55, just as I was walking out the door the power came back on. OHHHH what a relief. Thankfully we had a couple charged laptops that we could watch movies on for a bit but otherwise it was quite an uneventful day.

So this morning I wake to a warm house, dishwasher and washer running, laptop charging, TV's on and my coffee brewed and waiting for me to drink. All those "luxuries" I couldn't live without.
