Today I have an awesome tutorial to share with that our Delightful Designer, Karen, created using our May card kit.
Here is Karen's tutorial:
Included in May's Artful Delight Kit are some beautiful Eclectic Buttons
from Crate Paper. I knew the moment I saw them that a few of the pieces
would make a delightful necklace! That's right, these kits contain
embellishments that can be used beyond scrapbooking and cardmaking!
To make this easy, quick and elegant necklace, you only need a few supplies. In addition to one of the buttons/brads in the kit, gather a length of jewelry chain, a clasp, a few jump rings and a necklace base. My sister found the base of the necklace from a pack of chandelier earrings marked way down on clearance! (The other half of mismatched or lost earrings is perfect for this as well, and the chain from a previously broken necklace too!)
First, remove the earring hook from the earring and add a few jump rings
to connect the earring to the chain. Needle nose pliers help with this
process because you bend apart the jump ring where they connect, loop it
through and bend them back again.
Next, attach the clasp to the end of the chain in the same manner as you did for the base.
Remove the brad clasp from the back of the resin button with pliers and
adhere to the necklace base with jewelry glue or cement glue. I did also
adhere a circle punched piece of patterned paper behind the metal base
of the necklace so that the glue was sandwiched between the resin and
paper to form a stronger bond. Allow ample time to dry. And there you
have it, a beautiful custom necklace!
I made a quick card too, to give with this necklace as a gift. I
attached some fun vintage patterned paper included in this month's kit
to a cardstock base, rounded the corner and inked the edges. After
stamping a sentiment, I added one of the custom flowers from the kit!
First, though, I made that a bit more vintage by inking out the edges
and switching the center brad out from one from my stash. Love that I
can alter the embellishments from the kit if I need too!
Thank you Karen for an awesome tutorial. We will see a few more of those over the next few months.
Oh, we will have our kit reveal a day early so be sure to stop by tomorrow for our June kit reveal. :-) Another awesome kit put together by Debbie!!! :-)
