Limelight Papercrafts: Sketch 60: Pattern Paper

Good Morning! I am so excited because school is winding down for this semester. All I have left in most of my classes is the final. 3 more weeks of lectures and then the finals, with minimal homework. If I can pat myself on the back (of would that be wrong?) for a minute when I say that I got really good grades in my classes. Well so far at least, the finals will tell all though. LOL!

Other good news, my Lil Max took his first step the other day. Well he stepped towards the couch and then leaned on the couch. He keeps standing and trying to figure out what to do next.

And now on to the crafts, I was excited to play along with Limelight Papercrafts this week, I have seen the challenges on Karen's blog, The Bald Dragonfly, but I have never had a chance to play along. When I saw the challenge and the sketch I knew I wanted to play.

I really like the way this card turned out and it only took me about 30 minutes to make and that was really only because I cut the sentiment shape out on my Cricut. The PP is from Basic Grey's Jovial collection and I have the 6x6 paper pads available at Artfuldelight at a new low price of $4.99. :-)

The sentiment is from Practicing Creativity Designs, Christmas Wonder stamp set. Love, love love it. The wonderfully talented Karen from The Bald Dragonfly designed the set. This set is also available at Artfuldelight.

So I think I found the perfect spot to take pictures outside. Now I know everyone probably knows the importance of natural light when taking a picture and I have mentioned before that since I craft at night I photograph at night. Well last night I took a picture and it was just horrible. I didn't realize how horrible it was until I took a picture outside today and OH MY, did my pictures SUCK before. I can't guarantee great pics like this all the time (it is almost winter and I am not sure I will take pics outside if it is snowy or any colder than 32 degrees, lol) but I am just shocked. I am so embarrassed but I am going to show you the indoor, at night picture.
Eeekkkkk! What a ridiculously ugly photo. I am so sorry that is the quality photos that I would share. I will do my best not to use pics like that anymore. LOL! On a good note, with this card, I am at 3 Christmas cards so far. That's right 3! LOL! Sheesh, I better get busy or I will never be done to mail them out for Christmas 2010. LOL!

Anywho, be sure to enter my sketch challenge.

Embossed Tree - SSS75

All day long yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. I wonder how the rest of this week is going to go now. Don't you hate when that happens, you think it's a different day than it really is? For today's card I participated in The Sweet Shop's sketch challenge. I used to try and play along every week but it certainly has been a while.
I was so excited to be able to use a couple different products on this card. The super fabulous tree is from Practicing Creativity Designs, I white embossed it and colored in the image with my Stampin' UP! markers. The pattern paper is from Nikki Sivils called My Friend Birdie. The ribbon is from Stampin' UP! The sentiment is an Artfuldelight exclusive set. My first one that I am still in the works. I should have them up for sale in the next week or so. I will also have some projects to post with the set. The PCD and Nikki Sivils products are currently for sale at Artfuldelight. So this really sucked, I had planned to do a stitch line down the ribbon to secure it to the card, I used a little adhesive and some glue dots to keep it in place while I attached it and then ran it through my sewing machine. Yeah, bad idea!!! I think the glue dots kept jamming up my machine. I was getting so angry. LOL! So I quickly decided against putting a stitch line down along the ribbon.

CAS - Wee Memories Challenge #24

I would like to say that CAS cards are very tough for me and this one was no exception. LOL! I ALWAYS want to add more. Even though this card has very little on it, it took me while to make it. LOL! I am participating in Wee Memories Challenge #24 - CAS project or a project with tags or you can do both. Since I don't have any tags I chose a CAS card it also allowed me to think outside my usually comfort zone.

So I used some white glimmer paper I purchased from my LCS, I love this paper. I think they said it was from The Paper Co. Then I used some of my stamp sets from one of my favorite stamp companies, Practicing Creativity Designs. Courtney has done a fabulous job creating all of her sets. I can't say enough about them. I think I have all but one or two of her sets for sale at Artfuldelight! Ok so for the sentiment I used Chatterbox and the flowers is from her Barefoot Summer set. Both sets are amazing! I used a blender pen and PrismaColor Pencils to color in the flowers. And there ya have it. Have a great Sunday!

Alice in Wonderland

Good Morning friends! WOW, the start of another week. Thankfully my children are feeling a bit better and I don't have any tests. LOL! What a better way to start your day/week than some adorable pictures of the newest additions to Jamie's family. LOL! We haven't had any creations from Jamie in quite a few days because her pup was having pups. So she has been busy helping with the delivery and caring for the lil ones. Here are some pics:

Look at how small those pups are! I would so love to cuddle with one, well all of the pups. They are so stinkin' CUTE! So needless to say Jamie has had her hands full this week. So instead I have a card to share with you. Oh and bonus there are some sneak peaks of items in October's monthly kit. YIPPEE!!

So I participated in this week's SFYTT over at i{heart}2stamp. Here is the sketch:
So I used the new Graphic 45 8x8 paper pad, Hallowe'en in Wonderland, which is available over at Artfuldelight. Now I will admit this is a little different than the normal style paper I use but I thought these papers were really cool. So I gave it a try. OH I can't believe I almost forgot, I also participated in Wee Memories Challenge # 23 S.O.S. (Scallops, Orange, String). You had to use 2 out of the 3 but I think I managed to use all 3. YAY for me! LOL! I totally forgot how much I LOVE embossing, especially clear on Kraft cardstock. So I used PCD's For the Love of Dots (also available at Artfuldelight) stamp set to create the background.

Ok well that's it for now. Hope y'all have a great week!

Thankful for.......

I am thankful for all the great friends I have met in the crafting world you are all truly special to me!! Today's card I used another new stamp set from Practicing Creativity Designs. Oh she has some fabulous stamp sets and Fall Fest is no exception.

Well for starters the image is called Mr. Straw from Digital Delights by Looby Lou. I colored him with my Prisma Colored Pencils and blender pen. The scallop flower I cut out with my Cricut. I inked the edges with Creamy Brown Colorbox Chalk Ink. The pattern paper is from Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland which is available at Artfuldelight. The leaves were stamped with Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive ink from Stampin' UP! and Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink. I inked the sentiment in Dark Brown Colorbox Chalk Ink. I certainly love Colorbox Chalk Ink and I am so excited that I will be stocking my store with that ink very soon. I have it all on order. :-)

I hope y'all enjoyed today's card and I hope y'all have a fabulous week. Oh and don't forget Fall Fest as well as all of PCD's stamp sets are available at Artfuldelight. (correction all of her sets except My Beach House) Be sure to check them out, I have all but My Beach House and I absolutely LOVE her sets. They are all so versatile.

Holly Jolly?

Edit: I made a little correction to today's card. I felt it was a bit plan on the top of the card and I saw a Birthday over at Karen's blog where she layered the Poinsettia. I am not sure why I didn't think of that before. LOL! But I thought I would change my card up a bit and see how I liked it and I think it filled in the top of the card a little bit better. So I have a before and after picture of the card.

I can't believe I am thinking about Christmas. I know most of you have already and have also probably made a ton of Christmas cards. For me making a card in September is weird but last year I think I waited until November-ish and then it left me stressing about getting them all done.

What better way to kick off my Christmas card making than to use a brand new stamp set from Practicing Creativity Designs. This stamp set is super cute. It has a bunch of great sentiments and several very beautiful images.

Before

After
I have also decided that outdoors are not for me with taking photos of my cards and projects. In the first card you can't even see the score lines on the front of the card.

The Pretty Poinsettia is from Squigglefly. I used some stickles to go around the edges of the flower as well as around the "Christmas" sentiment. My picture really turned out a bit crappy. Sorry about that. I may take a new one later today. It was a bit windy when I took this picture and I had to be quick about it. I don't think you can tell in this picture but the "have a holly jolly" is stamped with red and green ink. Hope y'all have a great Sunday!

The Christmas Wonder stamp set by Practicing Creativity Designs can be purchased at Artfuldelight along with all of PCD's stamp set.

Hey friend

Good Morning friends. Today I have a card to share using a fabulous stamp set from Practicing Creativity Design. This set has been out for a while but this is my first time using it. I think it is fabulous and I can't believe I waited so long to crack open the package. LOL!

The colors were chosen from Off the Wall Craftiness' Color Challenge. I love her color challenges. As much as I would love to enter her challenge every week, for some reason I have only been able to enter a few. The weeks just seem to fly by. Anywho, here is my card:

Again I used the stamp set from PCD called Key to My Heart. I have all of PCD's stamp sets available in my store, she has 10 total and I LOVE every single one of them. She actually just released 2 new sets for the holidays. One is called Fall Fest and the other one is Christmas Wonder. The super cool thing about Christmas Wonder is the fabulously talented Karen Baker designed the set. Check out Artfuldelight and all of PCD's stamp sets.

I used crystal effects from Stampin' UP! to color over the red diamonds as well as on the keys. And there ya have it. I hope y'all have a great day, I have some homework to do. I have 2 tests next week. One in Accounting and one in Math. I plan on get an A++++ on my Math test but the Accounting one, that's a different story. My brain hurts every day after Accounting class. LOL!

Can never have enough Thanks

Another uneventful day. I was going to get my hair done but the girl that did it last time was not available. I actually get my hair done at the beauty school down the street. I usually get it done for free because they give me coupons. The most recent coupon I have is for $150 worth of services. The girl that did my hair last time did an awesome job on my hi-lites. This time though I want more drastic colors, nothing obnoxious but more blonde hi-lites. Plus my daughter wants to get her hair done too.

So while my kids were napping today I was able to make more Thank You cards. These were super fun to make. I made 3 cards in less than an hour. That is a first for me. Most of the time 1 card takes over an hour almost 2. Mostly because I don't have a vision of what I want until I start the card. So here are the 3 cards I made.

I really like the way the first and second card turned out, not so sure my feelings on the third. So I stamped the background. It is this super cool stamp from Practicing Creativity Designs. From her For the Love of Dots set. There are 5 rows of dots and then I used my PrismaColor Markers and Stampin' Write Markers from Stampin' UP! to color in a pattern in the dots. Oh so cool. The first 2 cards I used Black Stazon and the 3rd card I used London Fog from Memento. So it looks a little faded and not bold and bright. All the ribbon is satin ribbon from Stampin' UP!
If you think that dot stamp is super cool, check out Artfuldelight.com, I have it for sale for $12.75. Oh and don't forget about the Basic Grey collection packs that I have for sale for $11 each, Oliver and Olivia. (click on the link at the top of my blog) :-) Yippee!!!

Twisted Cards #007

Happy Sunday! It is the end of another weekend. My son starts speech therapy at the elementary school tomorrow. Most of you don't know me yet so I will give you a quick tid bit about that. My son is going to be 3 in July and he still doesn't talk. He certainly doesn't have a disability keeping him from doing so he is just delayed in that area, he is very independent and has never really "needed" to talk. Someone has always gotten things for him. I am a SAHM so I know his "language" and always seem to know what he wants. He throws BIG fits if he doesn't get what he wants, I guess that's the terrible two's. Anyways, he was getting in home speech therapy since about Nov but it was not consistant by any means. With the winter storms and me having a new baby (in Dec) and just life seemed to get in the way for both me and the therapist. So now he will go to the school, 2 days a week for 30 minutes. I am really excited about it. He will also go next year and may be upgraded to preschool. If we decide that he needs more socialization then maybe he will. Anyways, on to this week's Twisted Cards Sketch #007 -

This week's twist is "Black & White" - any how, any way!

So I started with a Basic Black cardstock from Stampin' UP!. I used my rays from Practicing Creativity Designs stamp set, You're Dandy. I white embossed it on the black cardstock. I then cut that in to 4 - 1.25" sections. I cut a top note with my Cricut (love that thing) and inked a Penguin with Black Stazon. The Penguin comes from my new stamp set from Memory Box called Summer Penguin which is now available at Artfuldelight. I paper pieced the polka dot dress, another stamp from that set. The Ribbon Doilie is from Basic Grey's Green at Heart collection. I love their Ribbon Doilies, they are self adhesive and come in 4 different designs. I used the pink scribble looking one. Super cute!
The umbrella is also from the Summer Penguin set and the "hello" is from Basic Grey called Tweet. All stamp sets are available at Artfuldelight.

Supplies:

Stamp: You're Dandy (Practicing Creativity Designs), Tweet (Basic Grey), Summer Penguin (Memory Box)

Ink: Black Stazon, Pink Passion (Stampin' UP!)

Paper: Basic Black and Whisper White (Stampin' UP!)

Misc: Ribbon Doilie (Basic Grey's Green at Heart collection)

Mojo Monday 138

Happy Monday! It has been a little cold here in Virginia. Hope my plants and flowers will survive this inconsistent weather. I got to do a little crafting at nap time (my kids all nap at the same time, so pleasant)so I decided to participate in Mojo Monday. I love sketch challenges.

I used Kraft as my card base. I LOVE Kraft! So neutral, pretty much goes with everything. I layered it with some Certainly Celery. The PP is from Cosmo Crickets Earth Love Mini Deck. I stamped a woodgrain pattern on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock from SU. The stamp sets I used was You're the Man from Practicing Creativity Designs and Bohemia from Basic Grey. The butterfly was inked with Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink and the "arrows/track marks" are inked in Pastel Olive also Colorbox Chalk Ink. I used more Glitter Thickers - Bliss from American Crafts for the "4u" sentiment.

Hope ya'll have a wonderful first day of a new week!

Supplies:

Stamp: You're the Man (Practicing Creativity Designs), Bohemia (Basic Grey)

Ink: Chestnut Roan and Pastel Olive (Colorbox Chalk Ink)

Paper: Earth Love Mini Deck (Cosmo Cricket), Kraft, Shimmery White and Certainly Celery cardstock (SU)

Misc: Glitter Thickers - Bliss (American Crafts), white gel pen

Twisted Cards #006

Pretty simple card today. This week's twist at Twisted Sketches is "Word" any way, any how. I decided to use my glitter chipboard Thickers from American Crafts. I am not a HUGE fan of using chipboard for my sentiment but when you see the sketch you will see why I decided that it was best.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I used a Kraft card base. I used Versamark and my For the Love of Dots stamp set from Practicing Creativity Designs. If you can see it behind the PP it is 2 seperate stamps. The large dots and small dots. I just love how you can combine the different stamps in that set to create an awesome background. So then I used Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection PP for the rest of the card. Since I don't have a square punch I used my Cricut to cut two 2.5x2.5 inch squares. The sentiment "congrats" was put together with glitter chipboard Thickers - Bliss from American Crafts. I was originally going to make the card completely coordinate and use Nook and Pantry chip stickers but I quickly realized the word "congrats" would have been way huge with those. I finished that card with 4 small buttons also from the Nook and Pantry collection.

Supplies:

Stamp: For the Love of Dots (Practicing Creativity Designs)

Ink: Versamark

Paper: Kraft cardstock (SU) and Nook and Pantry collection (Basic Grey)

Misc: Glitter Letter Thickers (American Crafts), Nook and Pantry collection buttons (Basic Grey)

Happy Crafting!!

Another Sneak Peek

Here is another peek at PCD new stamp set ready for release on May 6, just in time for Father's Day!

This is a feminine twist with the masculine set. I used a lot of pink. LOL!

I used a variety of inks. From Colorbox Chalk inks to Ruby Red from Stampin' UP! and also a Momento Pink color (not sure the names of all the colors)

So for the "tire tracks" I alternated pink and red. For the Happy Birthday emblem I used a variety of pink colors and rainbow-fied it. Not sure if you can tell in the picture. And then for the mistake that turned out to be ok. You can see the words "Happy" and "Day" lightly stamped in the white section. Now I cleaned and blotted my stamp and it came out clear, when I inked it with Versamark and stamped it it left a pink tint to it. So instead of redo-ing the card I just went with it. So I clear embossed the words. The ribbon squiggle strip is a Ribbon Doilie from Basic Grey's Green and Heart collection. They are super cool, come with 3 different styles and they are self adhesive.

Tomorrow I will try and have another masculine card. I will try and craft tonight when my kids go to bed and make my brother's birthday card. He is not much in to tools and so we will see what I can come up with.

Supplies:

Stamp: You're the Man (Practicing Creativity Design, available May 6)

Ink: Pixie Pink and Ruby Red (Stampin' UP!) and a variety of Colorbox Chalk Ink

Paper: Shimmer White cardstock (Stampin' UP!)

Misc: Ribbon Doilie - Green at Heart collection (Basic Grey)

Happy Crafting!

Practicing Creativity Designs May release

Here is a sneak peek at another super fab stamp set from Practicing Creativity Designs. It will be released May 6. My intension is to show you a card each day until release day. Even though this set is more masculine it has so many options to just make it gender neutral. See me and masculine don't mix well. I always want to add some ribbon or glitter or pretty colors. Men don't like that! So it was a bit of a challenge to make a card but I love this set.

This is probably the first set I have come across with so much testosterone, LOL! Here is why I love this PCD stamp set. Besides the fact that is has awesome images it has a ton of word stamps that you can mix and match to make different sentiments for different occasions. The new set, You're the Man....it includes 13 stamps. You can mix and match what you want the sentiment to say. 9 of them are word stamps. You can have it say "Happy Father's Day, Love you Man, Happy Birthday Bro. I just love that last one because I call my brother bro. Very rarely by his name so I will be making him a card with that sentiment. His birthday is in June. And the options of mix and matching with other PCD sets. Look Up!, You're Dandy, Key to My Heart and For the Love of Dots. All super fab sets that work so well with each other.

Now again keep in mind, I have a hard time not adding ribbon or glitter or a bit of girly colors. So for my card:

When I think of a man's tools or manly things I think of the colors red, silver and black. Kinda like a tool box. My boyfriend has one like that. So I went with a red card base. The cardstock is Stampin' UP! but I am not certain which red it is. The silver paper is Brushed Silver, also from SU. I inked the "tire tracks" with Black Stazon and colored some of it in with a metallic silver marker from American Crafts. The "father's" stamp was inked with Ruby Red SU classic ink pad.

Simple yet masculine. I still want to add something but I am using some self control. Tomorrow I will try and have a card for you with a little more gender neutral to it.

Don't forget this set will be released on May 6 at Artfuldelight.com.

Supplies:

Stamp: You're the Man from PCD available May 6

Ink: Ruby Red from SU and Black Stazon

Paper: red and Brushed Silver cardstock from SU

Misc: metallic silver marker from American Crafts
