Wishing you.....

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!!

Today I have a card to share with you that I created for my Grandma's birthday on July 1. :-) I am making sure to be ahead of the game this time. Every year it seems I am forgetting until the minute to make a card.

The svg file I purchased from My Grafico and it came with an svg file for 3 different kinds of blossoms. Now I didn't have any lilac paper laying around so I cut the little blossoms in white and sponged them with Dusty Concord distress ink.

It doesn't totally look like a lilac blossom but I really like the way it turned out. I also sponged the white cardstock from American Crafts with some Old Paper distress ink. Although this card was VERY time consuming, I had a ton of fun making it. It was a bit therapeutic, lol. My kids were playing and I just glued away! :-) I am sharing a picture of my process before I had too much glued on.

I made about 100+ of those little flowers and sponged them with the distress ink. Then I "folded" them, basically just folded the petals up and that left me with a small little base to apply some glue and put it in place. It gave the card some awesome dimension. I wanted to take a picture of what that process looked like but it was so small you couldn't really see anything in the picture, I did try. LOL!! :-)

Note to self: wear gloves!! LOL!!

The sentiment is from Practicing Creativity Designs and stamped with the Dusty Concord distress ink.

I am entering this card in this week's challenge over at The Paper Variety. The challenge is to use 2 different text. When I was choosing the stamps to use for this card (believe it or not I don't have but one or two Happy Birthday stamps, lol) as soon as I saw the different text in the PCD stamp set I knew I wanted to use it so I could enter in the challenge. :-)

Another quick post

It was another pretty busy day. My daughter and I spent just over 3 hours this afternoon getting our hair done. We both got hi-lights and we both LOVE it. I have also spent the last 2 days making some non paper crafting projects. I will share them when I am all done. The card I have to share with you, I made over the weekend. I made it for my other cousin. A bunch of us (in my family) have all decided to go back to school. So this is just a "just because" card.

Ok, so the bikini is a digital image by Kathy Martin, I purchased from Two Peas in a Bucket. And I did some more paper piecing. The paper piecing, not that you can probably tell is from Stampin UP! (too tired to think of the name). The flip flops, trees and the sun are all stamps from Practicing Creativity Designs, called Barefoot Summer. I have had this set for awhile and this is the first time I am using it. Super cute set, as all PCD stamp sets are. The trees were colored in with my Prismacolor Pencils and a blender pen. I had drew/colored the grass. And there you have it!

SFYTT - Birthday

Happy Sunday! Hope you are having a relaxing day! My family and I have all come down with bad colds. Tony and the kids have been sick for days and just today I started feeling the effects, aches and pains! Ugh!! However, before my nap today I was able to get crafty! Wahoo.

I participated in 2 challenges, one from Splitcoaststampers (F4A15) - It's a Boy Thing and my card layout is inspired from SFYTT at i{heart}2stamp. For Splitcoaststampers, It's a Boy Thing we just needed to create a masculine card, a card that would be given to a boy big or small. I chose to make the card for my brother, his birthday is in a couple weeks.

And here is my card:

I thought the sentiment would be great for my brother because he was a ladies man and I guess would still like to think he is, lol!
The Kraft card base is 5x5 instead of my usual 4.25x5.5. I used a super cute pattern paper from Pebbles' Lil Buddy collection. It's called Blankie.
Then I used Sahara Sand cardstock for the small square in the middle. I saw this on another blog and thought it made a cute background so I used just the "O" from the sentiment in You're the Man stamp set from Practicing Creativity Design (included in today's giveaway). I inked it with Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink. The ""plaque" with the screws is also from the You're the Man and I inked that in Pumpkin Pie. The "you're getting old" sentiment is inked in the Chestnut Roan. The light blue pattern paper is the other side of the orange pattern paper. I used my Xacto knife to cut slits and feed the ribbon through the PP. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip. The little circle is a stamp from PCD new stamp set that was just released today, also included in today's giveaway. The stamp set is so cute, called Barefoot Summer. All of PCD stamp sets are also available at Artfuldelight.

Voila, there is my card!! :-)

Stamp: You're the Man and Barefoot Summer(Practicing Creativity Designs), You're gettin' old - birthday(Skipping Stones Design)

SSS56 - "For the Guys"

This week's sketch at The Sweet Stop is "For the Guys" a masculine card. I struggle with manly cards, I just always want to add a little something extra, a flower or glitter or something. I was happy to have a sketch to use and it was difficult to stop where I did.

I am really not good at coloring so I wanted to keep my image simple, just one color to pop out. Since it was going to be basically black and white I decided to go with a black and white card. Pretty masculine right?
So I used a black card base. I turned to one of my favorite stamp sets from Practicing Creativity Designs, For the Love of Dots. I just love how versitile it is and how the stamps from that set make a great background pattern. I used white embossing powder on the dots background.
The stamped image is from Stampin' UP! King of the Grill stamp set and the sentiment is from Practicing Creativity Designs, You're Dandy set. On the image I only colored the apron with my Prisma colored pencils. I inked the edges of the white paper with black ink to give it a little dimension. To add a little bit more color I used Stampin' UP!'s Real Red 1" double-stitched grosgrain ribbon.

Supplies:

Stamp: King of the Grill (SU), You're Dandy and For the Love of Dots (Practicing Creativity Designs)

Ink: Basic Black (SU), Versamark

Paper: Black and Whisper White cardstock (SU)

Misc: white embossing powder (SU), Prisma colored pencils, 1" double stitched grosgrain ribbon-Real Red (SU)
