Good Morning!! TGIF!!
I have an "awesome" tutorial to share with you that our Delightful Designer, Karen put together for all of us.
KAREN
It often seems like alphabet stickers get the short end of the stick when it comes to card making. I'm here to show you a quick, effective and oh so fun way to dress up the letters for the most impact: clean and simply style! The October Artful Delight Card Kit is jam packed full of vibrant, rich solid cardstock, and alon with the usual great coordinating patterned paper and embellishments, there is also a large sheet of Doodlebug's Candy Shopee Cardstock Stickers in Black.
A solid card base works well for this technique. Trim the piece to
11x4.25 and fold in half. Draw a light pencil line about 1 1/2 inch from
the bottom and layout your sentiment greeting, being careful to not
adhere the stickers completely to the card base. Stick to one word
sentiments like awesome, congrats, love, hello.
Once your word and general placement is laid out, flip the letters that
have negative spaces over and fill these with trimmed pieces of
patterned paper. I eyeballed the general shape, and used only scraps of
the patterned paper included in the kit. Stick the patterned paper wrong
side up, so that when the letter sticker is turned over, the correct
side of the patterned paper shows. Dab a drop of glue on each portion of
the patterned paper. Then, flip your letters over, being careful to
line them up along your pencil line for even placement.
You can embellish as you like or let this simple technique shine.
Sticking with complimentary colors (ie. pink and lime green, orange and
blue, etc.) works best for this technique, along with solid dark
stickers works best. I hope you give this easy sticker dress up a go,
and are as pleased with the results as I am!
TOTALLY awesome, right?? Thanks Karen for a fabulous tutorial. I will definitely be trying that. :-)
Don't forget to play along with our sketches this month. Upload your projects by October 23rd for your chance to win.
Have a wonderful Friday my friends. :-)
