You Go Girl (and a GIVEAWAY)

 Happy Thanksgiving!!
So I am saddened today because not only are my children still fighting the flu or cold or whatever, they are sick, but my family won't be able to spend the day with Julie's family.  Our DT member (and my friend *wink*) Julie from Life with the Tucker and Wolek clan invited my family over for dinner.
My kids and I were so excited to see Julie and her family again but my kids have been battling sickness for the last week.  They are on the mend but I didn't want to take any chances and get Julie or her family sick.  I would have felt horrible.
For all of you that celebrate the day, I hope you are enjoying time with family and/or friends and taking time to be thankfully.

This year I feel I have a lot to be thankful for.  We have a beautiful new home, great jobs, my dad is moving here in a couple months......oh I totally didn't tell you all this story.  With my daughter getting sick on Monday I forgot to tell the story.

I will try to make it short......so my family is from the midwest, Illinois to be exact.  My dad has worked for the same company his whole life, so since he was 17.  Last year his company relocated his department to Texas, paid for my dad's relocation and everything and required him to commit 2 years in Texas.
So end of 2014 he would have put his house on the market (in Texas) and early 2015 he would have moved to Arizona.  Well Friday night he called me around 7 while I was working which in Texas time would have been pretty late for him (he usually goes to bed at 8pm and wakes like at 4 or 5, even on his days off).  I was working so I text him real quick to make sure all was ok.  He said he just forgets I work nights.  Ok.....so then Sunday afternoon, I am hanging in my pj's (yup I said afternoon and pj's in the same sentence) and my kids are chillin' in the pj's and underwear (a typical weekend) and my dad calls.  So I answer and within 2 min my doorbell rings.  I am telling my dad (on the phone), who could be at my door on a Sunday.....no one comes to my house.  So I answer the door and who was standing there.....MY DAD!  I haven't seen my dad in 3 years and I haven't seen my (step)mom in 6 years.  It was surreal.

So while they were hanging out my dad told me his company is sort of "forcing" him in to early retirement.  He is retiring in December and will be moving to Arizona (about 45 min away) in March.
I couldn't be more excited.

So I have a lot to be thankful for.  :-)

What are you thankful for?
Let's have a little GIVEAWAY with this.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you are all thankful for and I will pick at random one winner.  I will leave this open all weekend, ends November 2nd and midnight.  The winner will get their choice of  ONE KIT, either current (December) or past kit.

Ok, moving on........

Today’s inspiration was created by our Delightful Designer Sandi, using our November card kit.

Dear Leannee! Sorry to hear that your famliy is so sick! Wishing everybody a fast recovery!

I am eternally thankful for my wonderful family. While they do drive me insane on a regular basis, they are the best thing that ever happened to me.

I am incredibly thankful for my new job which is really challenging and I can learn so much every day.

And finally, I am thankful to have found a hobby that is fulfilling, does not require me to leave my home and preserves precious family memories.

I hope everyone feels better soon! I ahve been going thru a very rough time with one of my kids. He's battling depression and I have my hands full between the behavior issues, failing grades he has at school and self harming he has been doing. So this year I am just thankful that he seems to be getting back on track. I have learned a lot about myself thru all of this and have grown as well. I have learned that no matter how bad things get or seem, there is beauty in everything and I am thankful that I can still the light thru the darkness. I haven't scrapped in forever but this weekend I am blog surfing and looking for inspo and MIGHT have a card or something to share with my crafty friends in a day or so. I'm also grateful for them all!!! Happy Thankgiving!

I am sorry that your kiddos are not feeling well. I compleltely understand the sadness of not spending the day with family/friends. Our youngest girl suffers from Crohn's disease and several weeks ago she started to flare (meaning she started to show signs of active disease that had been suppressed by medication for about 9 months). She can barely eat and has little energy. We called off our day with family just because it would be too much for her. We had a nice family meal with just the four of us. :)
What I am most thankful for is the overwhelming blessings we have in our lives. Aside from our sweet girl Ashlyn, our other 5 children are healthy, as our our extended families in general. We have welcomed two Sons-in-Law to our family this year and a sweet granddaughter. I have a fantastic job that allows me the flexibility to take all the time I need to care for Ashlyn, but gives me a lot of responsibility and fulfillment. Our home, our pets, the future... there are endless things to be grateful and thankful for each and every day.
Thanks for the chance to win. I sure hope your kiddos are feeling well soon. :)

Although we don't have Thanksgiving here in The Netherlands, I think it is a great tradition. I'm especially thankfull for my sweet boyfriend, my (soon to be a teenager) daughter, our family and friends and also for the great childhood my parents gave me. Missing them!

And, since it seems that I am a little late in getting this posted, maybe I should be grateful for folks that are okay with the concept of "Tara" time!! :)
