SFYTT 10/9/10

Whoa, I was about to say Happy Wednesday, when I realized that it's Thursday. Yikes, another week flying by. Today's card uses DeLovely paper pad from Cosmo Cricket. This paper pad is so bright and cheerful. I just love it.

All of the pattern paper is from the DeLovely collection and the cardstock is from Stampin' UP! Mambo Melon? I think that's the name. Well what I do know is it matched perfectly.

The DeLovely paper pad is available at Artfuldelight. :-) I am going to have the giveaway posted up later today so check back.

Have you checked out this month's kit over at Artfuldelight? It is superb. Lots of great embellishments to spice up any LO or card. There are only a few more left so be sure to check it out. Click here!

Thanks and SFYTT 10/2/10

Sometimes I am not sure if I like the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants way of crafting. I feel a bit envious of those that can create from a sketch or start with a particular layout in mind and the end result is exactly what they visioned. Me on the other hand, I really have no idea what the end result will be until the end. LOL! Even if I work from a sketch, something won't go as planned.

My point is, the card I have to share with you today totally was supposed to be Halloween themed. I tried to use the Halloween colors and I used my Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection 6x6 paper pad (also available at Artfuldelight). I wanted to use either a pumpkin or some sort of paper and I ended up not using any of that. So in the end there is not an ounce of "Halloween" type items on this card. Which may also bring me to talking about how great the Matilda collection is, even though it would seem primarily Halloween themed, the colors are a bit Halloweenie, most of the papers don't have any Halloween theme to it at all, making this perfect for even after the holiday. My card turned out more Fall-ish than Halloweenie. LOL! Well now that I have talked your ear off (I think I am trying to get myself in essay mode for the essay I need to write, comparing and contrasting men and women) Side note, ya know you would think that writing this essay would be simple, but one of two things has me stumped. One is that my boyfriend is in the same class as I am, so I don't want to write about the same thing he is and well that's mostly it. When he told me what he was writing about I thought omg that is totally funny and would be awesome to write about. He is writing about men's lack of attention to detail, that could go in so many directions. Anyone have any suggestions about things their husbands do that is just off the wall and way different than women. I am sure my man does the same thing. LOL! Marlene (if you're reading this) I could use some of your snark right about now! LOL!

Really! Now for the card. I participated in this week's SFYTT over at i{heart}2stamp. Here is the sketch.

Aren't those Thickers just divine? I love them! See the colors in the buttons, I totally was choosing colors to match the Halloween colors in the Matilda collection but ended up with some greens and blacks and a mustard color. LOL! That stamp is from Memory Box but I can't think of the name right now. Those Thickers are available at Artfuldelight.

Alice in Wonderland

Good Morning friends! WOW, the start of another week. Thankfully my children are feeling a bit better and I don't have any tests. LOL! What a better way to start your day/week than some adorable pictures of the newest additions to Jamie's family. LOL! We haven't had any creations from Jamie in quite a few days because her pup was having pups. So she has been busy helping with the delivery and caring for the lil ones. Here are some pics:

Look at how small those pups are! I would so love to cuddle with one, well all of the pups. They are so stinkin' CUTE! So needless to say Jamie has had her hands full this week. So instead I have a card to share with you. Oh and bonus there are some sneak peaks of items in October's monthly kit. YIPPEE!!

So I participated in this week's SFYTT over at i{heart}2stamp. Here is the sketch:
So I used the new Graphic 45 8x8 paper pad, Hallowe'en in Wonderland, which is available over at Artfuldelight. Now I will admit this is a little different than the normal style paper I use but I thought these papers were really cool. So I gave it a try. OH I can't believe I almost forgot, I also participated in Wee Memories Challenge # 23 S.O.S. (Scallops, Orange, String). You had to use 2 out of the 3 but I think I managed to use all 3. YAY for me! LOL! I totally forgot how much I LOVE embossing, especially clear on Kraft cardstock. So I used PCD's For the Love of Dots (also available at Artfuldelight) stamp set to create the background.

Ok well that's it for now. Hope y'all have a great week!

My teacher

So I finally decided to play around with the September Monthly Kit and boy is it a great kit. LOL! Can I say that? I was a bit bummed at first to think that I would have no one to give a "school" themed card to. My daughter is in middle school and I am not sure she would give her teachers a card like that. You know how teenagers are. LOL! But then I remembered that my son is in speech therapy and he has a "teacher" I could give it to. Not sure when or for what, I guess I could wait for teacher appreciation. But either way I will keep this card for her. My lil guy really likes her.

I'm not sure why but I was a bit camera happy taking these pictures. Very rare for me but there was no stamping at all on this card.
Wait, what I thinking or not thinking I guess, I totally forgot that I made this card to play along with SFYTT over at i{heart}2stamp. This card was so fun to make, getting to use several of the items from September's kit. The Tim Holz ruler tape is awesome, I used my sewing machine to make sure it was adhered to the paper real good. If you haven't already, you should check out the kit, it is packed with good-ness! Hope ya'll have a great day!

SFYTT - Birthday

Happy Sunday! Hope you are having a relaxing day! My family and I have all come down with bad colds. Tony and the kids have been sick for days and just today I started feeling the effects, aches and pains! Ugh!! However, before my nap today I was able to get crafty! Wahoo.

I participated in 2 challenges, one from Splitcoaststampers (F4A15) - It's a Boy Thing and my card layout is inspired from SFYTT at i{heart}2stamp. For Splitcoaststampers, It's a Boy Thing we just needed to create a masculine card, a card that would be given to a boy big or small. I chose to make the card for my brother, his birthday is in a couple weeks.

And here is my card:

I thought the sentiment would be great for my brother because he was a ladies man and I guess would still like to think he is, lol!
The Kraft card base is 5x5 instead of my usual 4.25x5.5. I used a super cute pattern paper from Pebbles' Lil Buddy collection. It's called Blankie.
Then I used Sahara Sand cardstock for the small square in the middle. I saw this on another blog and thought it made a cute background so I used just the "O" from the sentiment in You're the Man stamp set from Practicing Creativity Design (included in today's giveaway). I inked it with Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink. The ""plaque" with the screws is also from the You're the Man and I inked that in Pumpkin Pie. The "you're getting old" sentiment is inked in the Chestnut Roan. The light blue pattern paper is the other side of the orange pattern paper. I used my Xacto knife to cut slits and feed the ribbon through the PP. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip. The little circle is a stamp from PCD new stamp set that was just released today, also included in today's giveaway. The stamp set is so cute, called Barefoot Summer. All of PCD stamp sets are also available at Artfuldelight.

Voila, there is my card!! :-)

Supplies:

Stamp: You're the Man and Barefoot Summer(Practicing Creativity Designs), You're gettin' old - birthday(Skipping Stones Design)

Ink: Chestnut Roan (Colorbox Chalk Ink), Pumkpin Pie Stampin' Write Marker (SU)

Paper: Kraft and Sahara Sand cardstock (SU), Lil Buddy collection-Blankie (Pebbles Inc)

Misc: Chocolate Chip ribbon (SU)

Sketch For You To Try....

Happy Tuesday! I wasn't sure I was going to craft today, my son hasn't been feeling good and so I haven't had a good night sleep lately. I have been a bit tired and was going to nap but I just couldn't stay away from my craft table. So I participated in i{heart}2stamp's SFYTT. Here is the sketch:
And here is my card:

Ok so let me take a moment as say I certainly cannot take a picture. We have a "high-tech" camera that I cannot use for nothing and then I have my iPhone. Not it usually takes decent pictures but lately....not so much. So I have to resort to scanning my cards just so they look ok. My iPhone was making the pictures very dark and I have tried all sorts of lighting.

Ok anywhoo, I usually go for a Kraft card base but today I went with a Pumpkin Pie card base. I layered a Sahara Sand cardstock with some PP from K&Co. The orange polka dots and the flower scallop. The striped "ribbon" is from Basic Grey's Sugar Rush collection. It is called a Ribbon Doilie. They are super cool because they are self adhesive and each pack comes with 3 different styles. The hearts are also from the Sugar Rush collection called Pops. The sentiment I am not sure where I got it from, Michaels dollar bin maybe? I am not sure.

Supplies:

Stamp: misc stamp from Michaels dollar bin

Ink: Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink

Paper: Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand cardstock (SU), PP from K&Co

Misc: Sugar Rush collection - Pops and Ribbon Doilie (Basic Grey)
