Sending you Thanks (faux metal)

Hello my friends. It is cold and rainy here in Virginia and I don't like it. LOL!! I decided not to go to Panera Bread this morning and do homework. The only "homework" I officially have this semester is for a class called Project and Seminar. It is a class that coincides with my Intermediate Accounting class. It's online and kinda self paced. I finished my first paper for that class and it isn't even due until next Wed. The next paper isn't due for 3 weeks now. SO, I decided to stay home and craft. *GASP* LOL!!

Who is a fan of Kristina Werner's work? Let's see a show of hands (now let's see a show of hands of those that actually just raised their hand, lol)......Do you ever do that when you are talking on the phone or something? Not raise your hand per say but are you really animated and do you use a lot of hand gestures even though you know no one can see you? Oh I am totally that way. LOL!

Anywho, well I am a big fan of Kristina's and have been for over 2 years. A couple months back I saw her first tutorial on how to make faux metal and I was determined at some point to try that technique. When I searched Kristina's blog for her faux metal tutorial, I have come to realize she has been sharing this technique since 2006.

Ok so anyway, I have this gorgeous paper from Authentique's Uncommon collection. Oh so beautiful. I thought a faux metal sentiment would look awesome. So I set to work on creating this card.

I just love the way this card turned out. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. Isn't this technique AWESOME. I almost think I am addicted. I want to make many, many more cards with a faux metal sentiment.

Now I haven't watched all of Kristina's faux metal tutorials but I think the ones I did see show her just using a bigger sheet of paper and then cutting out the sentiment area. For mine I cut the label die cut first, used some removable adhesive to hold it on to a larger sheet while I embossed and then VERY carefully lined the sentiment on the label.

Today you are you

Hello my friends!! Oh what a weekend. Busy, busy....and now we start I think it is week 9 of this semester. Oh I am so excited for it to come to an end. Only 7 weeks left. YAHOO!!

I decided to participate in another challenge, YAY, go me!! The challenge over at Lasting Memories this week is "BLING" it on. So bring out your bling and show 'em what you got. Well for me that was pretty easy because I got an i-rock a week or so ago and have not had a chance to play with it yet. Thank you Courtney for showing me how awesome it is....all your cool projects you make using one. :-)

Now for all you ladies out there that have an i-rock, when you used it the first time did you not know when to stop? Did you just want to "bling" EVERYTHING??? LOL! I found myself not knowing when to stop.

But without further adieu I present my LO. Now I am not sure you can see it all in the picture but it's all there. The flowers have bling, and the "star" doilie things have bling, and then I just did some swirly bling. LOL! I used more papers from Authentique, this collection is called Uncommon. Oh my goodness it is a beautiful collection.

I fussy cut all the flowers and the "doilie" things. I also misted the background paper with Earl Gray mist from Maya Road.

Well that's all for today, stop by tomorrow for the November kit reveal!! :-)

Delight

It is Saturday and I am happy. I only have to work 3.5 hours (well that's the plan as of now, let's see if that changes when I get there) and then I have the rest of the day off. Yesterday I did ABSOLUTELY nothing and it felt great. I finished this LO and then I turned off all the lights and laid on the couch and watched old episodes of Monk. :-) Does anyone else watch that show?

So yesterday I felt not obligated to get anything done around the house, really that meant no homework. I have a take home test to do but it isn't due until next Thursday so I have time. I did dishes and laundry but that's it. So I wanted to play along with a challenge. I saw the challenge at Sketchy Thursdays and I totally wanted to play along. :-)

I was lucky enough to receive a goodie box from Authentique last week filled with some of their new collections. I was so happy when I received the box. I have been waiting to have time to craft with it all.

So all the supplies for this LO with the exception of the frame which is from the October kit is from Authentique. I used paper from the Splendid collection and Free Bird.

Ever since I had a couple Authentique collections in my August kit I have been in love with their products. Their papers are such high quality and their embellishments are so cute!!! LOVE it ALL!!!

Now I would like to point out that tearing/distressing the edges of the paper was really tough for me to do. Not the physical tearing part but the fact that I was tearing the paper. LOL! I am usually a clean and simple straight line crafter. But I really like the way this turned out.

Ok, well I just realized the time and I need to head out. I hope you enjoy and stop by tomorrow for more inspiration from our Delightful Designers using the October kit. :-)
