There's gnomebody like you

Good Morning my friends! I was able to craft yesterday but I realized that I have way too much of my crafty stuff packed away. It was a little tough to get the project done but I made it work.

 I have a friend that asked me to make her a Thank you card.  I felt bad because she asked me to make a Mother's Day card and  time just slipped away and I didn't get to make it.  I even bought a stamp set specifically to make her card.  She wanted me to make it with some Gnomes.  I saw a super cute stamp set from Wilson Designs called Gnomebody Like You.  I just had to have it.  

Well I was bummed I didn't make her the Mother's Day card but then she came to me about a week or so ago and asked if I could make a Thank you card.  Since I was a bit short on time, my mojo is still slacking a little, and half my craft stuff is packed away, I borrowed the design from this card.

Think it turned out cute.  She wanted the recipients name on it so I used my Alphadot stamp set from Paper Smooches.   I love the stamp set because it is just the alphabet so I can spell whatever I want.  I actually used 3 stamp sets for this card.  I used Sentiment Sampler and Alphadot from Paper Smooches and also the Gnomebody Like You stamp set from Wilson Designs. 

I used pattern papers from our May kit. I paper pieced the gnome with a variety of papers.  I showed my friend the card and she absolutely loves it!!  That makes me happy.

Sending you Thanks (faux metal)

Hello my friends. It is cold and rainy here in Virginia and I don't like it. LOL!! I decided not to go to Panera Bread this morning and do homework. The only "homework" I officially have this semester is for a class called Project and Seminar. It is a class that coincides with my Intermediate Accounting class. It's online and kinda self paced. I finished my first paper for that class and it isn't even due until next Wed. The next paper isn't due for 3 weeks now. SO, I decided to stay home and craft. *GASP* LOL!!

Who is a fan of Kristina Werner's work? Let's see a show of hands (now let's see a show of hands of those that actually just raised their hand, lol)......Do you ever do that when you are talking on the phone or something? Not raise your hand per say but are you really animated and do you use a lot of hand gestures even though you know no one can see you? Oh I am totally that way. LOL!

Anywho, well I am a big fan of Kristina's and have been for over 2 years. A couple months back I saw her first tutorial on how to make faux metal and I was determined at some point to try that technique. When I searched Kristina's blog for her faux metal tutorial, I have come to realize she has been sharing this technique since 2006.

Ok so anyway, I have this gorgeous paper from Authentique's Uncommon collection. Oh so beautiful. I thought a faux metal sentiment would look awesome. So I set to work on creating this card.

I just love the way this card turned out. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. Isn't this technique AWESOME. I almost think I am addicted. I want to make many, many more cards with a faux metal sentiment.

Now I haven't watched all of Kristina's faux metal tutorials but I think the ones I did see show her just using a bigger sheet of paper and then cutting out the sentiment area. For mine I cut the label die cut first, used some removable adhesive to hold it on to a larger sheet while I embossed and then VERY carefully lined the sentiment on the label.

Good Morning Blogosphere! I have a couple easy cards again trying to use up some scraps. I actually made these cards the same day I made yesterdays LO. All the paper I used in the LO were from Basic Grey's Origins collection. I hate throwing away paper, especially awesome pattern paper from Basic Grey, lol! So I had already shown you a card using scraps the other week and when I was blog hopping the other day I saw on Kristina's blog (kwernerdesign.com) how she reuses scraps.

So I thought I would give it a try. :-)

So the first card, I feel torn about. First I made it for my daughter's grandma(on her dad's side), her birthday is in a couple days. But I am torn because, even though the Origins paper has a variety of green colors, the olive green crinkle ribbon seems to not match. Well oh well. The chipboard letters are from Green at Heart, also Basic Grey. The Thanks card was just to add another one to my collection. I think Thank You cards are my most used cards, so I can never have too many. So I intentionally wanted the "S" to be crooked but when I glued it down it ended up a little more crooked than I wanted. I used Creamy Brown Colorbox Chalk ink on my card instead of the Dark Brown I used on my LO yesterday. The Creamy Brown was a little closer to the Kraft color card base. I was going for a more subtle look. The chipboard letters are from Nook and Pantry. Have you noticed yet that Basic Grey is one of my favorite craft companies. :-)

Can never have enough Thanks

Another uneventful day. I was going to get my hair done but the girl that did it last time was not available. I actually get my hair done at the beauty school down the street. I usually get it done for free because they give me coupons. The most recent coupon I have is for $150 worth of services. The girl that did my hair last time did an awesome job on my hi-lites. This time though I want more drastic colors, nothing obnoxious but more blonde hi-lites. Plus my daughter wants to get her hair done too.

So while my kids were napping today I was able to make more Thank You cards. These were super fun to make. I made 3 cards in less than an hour. That is a first for me. Most of the time 1 card takes over an hour almost 2. Mostly because I don't have a vision of what I want until I start the card. So here are the 3 cards I made.

I really like the way the first and second card turned out, not so sure my feelings on the third. So I stamped the background. It is this super cool stamp from Practicing Creativity Designs. From her For the Love of Dots set. There are 5 rows of dots and then I used my PrismaColor Markers and Stampin' Write Markers from Stampin' UP! to color in a pattern in the dots. Oh so cool. The first 2 cards I used Black Stazon and the 3rd card I used London Fog from Memento. So it looks a little faded and not bold and bright. All the ribbon is satin ribbon from Stampin' UP!

Today we had a storm roll through, it lasted a total of 5 minutes from start to finish. In that time it managed to knock out our power. I was crafting when the winds started blowing and then....the power flickered off. I was able to finish my cards even though it was a bit dark in my room.

We left the house for a while, since it was extremely how in the house. We returned home around 8:30 and thankfully the power was back on.

So here are my cards I made. They were super simple but I kinda like the way they turned out.

I used my favorite, Kraft card base. I used Ruby Red and Old Olive ink from Stampin' UP! as well as some Versamark. First I stamped the Versamark on the card and then layered the Ruby Red and Old Olive. On a separate piece of Kraft cardstock I inked one more flower of each color. I cut out the flowers and popped them out with dimensional adhesive. The "thanks" is also from that stamp set. Oh I didn't mention the set is from Studio G and it was only like $2 from Michaels. The "thanks" was stamped with Creamy Brown Colorbox Chalk Ink. LOVE that stuff! I also adhered that with dimensionals. I rounded the corners. Oh and to add a little extra to the flowers I used some glitter chipboard Thickers from American Crafts (I used the "periods"). It is called Bliss in Coffee (color). That is my FAVORITE Thickers set.

Just a quick little card today. I send a lot of Thank You cards, usually when someone buys something from Artfuldelight and so I always need quick and easy cards to make. This one wasn't as quick as my usual card but I needed to spice it up a bit.

This card is a 4x4 Kraft card base. The thin strips of paper are actually scraps from other cards I have made. Since I don't like to waste, lol, I decided to use them on this card. The pattern paper is from Basic Grey's Max and Whiskers collection, which is available at Artfuldelight for $9.75 and that is for the collection pack. Retail value of $22. HUGE savings. The ribbon is from Cosmo Cricket. The sentiment and bird stamps are all from Basic Grey, called Tweet.

A little Note

Just a quick post, I am in the process of making some cards for a challenge or two but I made this "Thank you" card for someone who purchased something from me off eBay. I try to send a little card in every package I mail out. I am trying to find a simple yet cute card to mass produce and have readily available to me.


Oh you can see a small part of my messy desk in the background. Anywhoo, this card measures 4x4 with a Kraft card base. You can't see it very well but I used my Martha Stewart score board to make some score marks at the top of the card. Sadly I don't know the color pink that is but it is from Stampin' UP!. The stamp is from Memory Box - Lovey Dovey wood mounted stamp. Super cute AND available at Artfuldelight. I used some misc pink gems to give it a little bling. The "thanks" sentiment is from Basic Grey's Green at Heart collection - I'd Pick you. The sentiment was supposed to say " thanks for everything you do" but I didn't think I would ever use that so I cut the stamp. Yes, I cut it. I seperated the "thanks" from the stamp so that way I could just use it and not worry about getting ink on the rest of the words. I love the font on that sentiment.
I rounded some corners and bada boom bada bing, a quick Thank you card. I will have to get more of the bling pink gems if I want to make more cards though, as I used my last 4 on this card.
