My Yoga Journal

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday! I am so excited that even though I have to attend classes through next Wednesday, today is my last day to turn in any homework and tests. Ahhhhh, I can take a breather. LOL! I really think I am more tired than I think because I am always drinking coffee. Maybe the coffee is holding me together more than I gave it credit for. I mean I have had this annoying twitch in my eye for the last 2 days and it is bothersome. I just feel wiped.

Well one of my last projects for Yoga class was to make a journal documenting our home practice that we put together. Like a routine of poses, and document when we "worked out" and how we felt afterwards. She made a comment that some people in past classes made cute artsy journals. What I am allowed guilt free to craft......as a homework assignment!! YEEESSS!!! When I say guilt free is because sometimes I craft when I know I should be reading or doing some sort of homework but NOW my homework is to craft. So with that the mini album was created!!!

I made my home practice journal in to a mini album. I really like the way it turned out. My Professor says she keeps everyone's journal in a file cabinet and sometimes goes back and reads them so I wanted to make something pretty. :-)

Here are some pics. I used Echo Park's Life is Good collection to decorate it plus some flowers and other embellishments that I had from past Artful Delight kits.





So I used a 7.5x5" acrylic covers and used my Bind-it-All to put it all together. Sorry for the bad pictures, I took them at night and on top of that the glare of the lights on the acrylic covers. I didn't take pictures of all the pages, like the ones with my journal entries. LOL! But these pages are the extras I added, little quotes and such. Thought it would be a cute touch. All the patter paper is from Echo Park's Life is Good collection. I used my FAV woolies from Basic Grey (they were in March's kit) and I used some Prima flowers too.

One more

I am back with another Bind-it-All project. This is my final notebook needed. I am taking 4 classes but since one is a web class I am not going to make a special book, just use a plain composition book or something.

This notebook will be for Accounting.

I thought the number paper from Sassafras, Cherry Delicious wee bundle would be perfect for an Accounting class. LOL! Boy this photo really sucks! Well the blue pattern paper is also from that collection and I used a red cardstock from Stampin' UP! to separate the busyness of the pattern paper a bit.

Ok side note, the word "busyness" sure looks like it's spelled wrong, at least to me it does. Well I dictionary.com'd that word and that is how they spelled it. I would have hyphenated that word or something, lol!

Anywho, the chipboard is from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection and the little flower is also from Basic Grey but their Sugar Rush collection. Sure do love Basic Grey! :-)

Oh, and you can't really tell (at all) in the picture but I used my sewing machine and did some stitching around the pattern papers. Ok seriously my sewing machine must have a warning on it or something "DO NOT USE WITH PAPER IN THIS MACHINE" because every time I try to sew paper it is a pain in my bum. I had one heck of a time just doing some simple stitches on that paper, oh I thought I was going to lose my mind. BUT I like the way it turned out and that is all that matters. No one really needs to know about the tears and sweat I shed making this book, do they? LOL!

I love my BIA

I really do love my BIA! At the end of last school year I decided that I wanted to make my daughter notebooks for her classes. Then when I found out that I was going to be going to school too I decided I wanted to be the coolest one in my classes. LOL! So I made some notebooks. The great thing about college is you can go in there with some post-it notes to take notes with and they don't care. This way I was able to make 8x8 inch notebooks. I used my favorite Cover-Alls to make mine. I made one for my daughter a month or so ago and I posted it but it got ruined. That damn Mod Podge was all tacky and when she had her book open it stuck to the front cover and ripped it up. I was so upset. It wasn't too bad so she is using it for a doodle book.

I made her another one and used a little less Mod Podge so let's hope it doesn't stay tacky like the last one.

So for my daughters book I used paper from Basic Grey's Olivia collection. I cut the scallop circle out with my Cricut as well as the words. All the words for the books I cut with my Cricut. I really liked that font and thought it would look nice on the books. For my two books I used 8x8 Cover-Alls in white. For the Algebra book I used Tattered Angels glimmer mist and sprayed the whole book. It sort of resembles my "bills" book I posted about last month. I cut the top note shape with my Cricut.

For my Intro to Technology book I was feeling a bit creative so I designed a little scene. My inspiration came from a card I made a while back, not sure if I ever posted it but it is truly one of my favs.

I wanted to use some of my digital papers. I used Lazy Afternoon papers from Two Peas. On my card I used images from Look Up and You're Dandy from Practicing Creativity Design. Both sets are available at Artfuldelight. For my notebook though I didn't want to do the rays so I printed the cloud paper, I used the same flower PP from Pebbles Inc, TreeHouse collection. That has got to be one of my favorite papers. I love the colors and how bold and bright it is. I cut the grass out of some Old Olive cardstock from Stampin' UP! The large hot air balloon I stamped on the back side of the PP (it is double sided) and cut out the image. For the smaller balloons I just stamped directly on the cloud paper. I forgot to mention I sponged the book first with some acrylic paints. I am not sure the colors but there are two and I thought they looked good together. I ended up Mod Podging my books too, I was worried that the grass and stuff would get ruined without it so I am taking my chances. LOL!

So I still have to make a book for my Accounting class and I think I need to get on that because I start school on Monday! Holy crap Monday, really? I have started to get emails and my Syllabus from a couple of my classes and I am REALLY nervous. I have tried all week to "train" myself to get up early and it went pretty well. Tony ended up with 4 days off this week so on his days off it was not a big problem getting up around 6-6:30 and going to the gym. Now on the days he worked, where he is out the door before 5, I have had trouble getting out of bed. Starting Monday though my goal is to be up by 5 during the week, study from 5-6, then the gym from 6-7 and from 7 on begin my day......get my kids up and do housework, study some more and then classes, between Tony and I, are from 11:30am-10pm on Monday and Wednesday and then on Friday we are done with classes by 1pm.

Ok, so enough rambling from me. Oh, one more thing I have some REALLY exciting news to share. Well it's exciting to me and I hope some of you think it is exciting too. :-)

Ok, so here is what I decided today. See I have lost my mojo, well mostly with card making. I blog hop a lot and it seems like when I see someones card they may say how they are making this card and that card FOR someone. To me it would seem a lot of card makers make cards with a purpose. For me, I don't send cards very often so when I make them I don't have a purpose. It makes it hard to "personalize" them. I am not sure if this makes any sense to anyone but my inspiration and creativity comes from "why I am making the project". I think that is why I will always be a scrapbooker at heart. I have been scrapbooking for 13 yrs and I get such pleasure and satisfaction from making layouts. Does any of this make sense to ANYONE? LOL!

Here is my example, I made 2 projects today to share with you. One was a Bind-it-All project and one was a card. I bought my first digital kit the other day and had to try it out. I had no purpose for the card, no one in mind to send it to.....so I really had no where to go with it. It was simple but cute and somewhere down the line I may find a use for it. The other project I made was using my BIA. I am sort of old fashioned and still prefer my pen and paper to keep track of bills and other important info in my life. I don't use a check register to every month in a Composition book I write down which bills are due, how much I paid, the check number and when the check was sent. Basically just like a register but because it is in the notebook I have more room to make notes and add things and make corrections. Well the book I had been using I have had for 2 years. I was getting old and ragged. Now the BIA book I made is nothing fancy but I made it will a purpose, someone (me) will be using it so while I was making it I saw my vision. Again, does this make any sense? Seriously, or am I just alone in this crazy crafty mind game?

So my point is I am going to start making a variety of projects from cards to BIA projects to scrapbook pages. I hope you will all still join me and continue to check out all that I have to share.

Alright on with my projects, here is the card I made using my new digital kit I got from Two Peas. I think it is called Party Monkey by Holly Jones.

Everything is from the digital kit except the "happy everything" sentiment. That is actually a stamp I got from the dollar bin at Michaels. It was actually super fun making this card. I see more digital kits in my future. LOL!

Next is my BIA project. I used a 7.5x5 Coverall with 3/4in O-wire.
First I used Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels that I purchased the other day from my local craft store. It's called Pashmina, is has like gold glitter tints to it. Super cool looking when dry, you can't really see that in the picture. I realized that is went very well with the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP from Stampin' UP! I used a piece of that paper to cut out the top note shape which I did with my Cricut. I also cut out "Bills" with my Cricut and my S-CAL program. The lines paper I used on the inside I actually printed off a website, www.printablepaper.net.

I really like the way this turned out. I am super excited to sit down tomorrow and start using the book, writing down all my upcoming bills for August.

Here is one this that I wish that BIA/Zutter would do, I LOVE the Coveralls. Now since I am on this "making my own notebook" kick, I wish they made Coveralls that were big enough to use 10.5x8in notebook paper. I would never buy another store bought notebook again. LOL! Since college isn't strict on what kind of notebooks I use for note taking, I will be using the 7.5x5 Coveralls to make myself notebooks. But for my kids who are in schools that are particular about the size notebooks they use, a 10.5x8in Coverall would be so handy.

Alrighty, there you have it. I am in the process of making a SUPER cool scrapbook LO. I found this cool website with a cool technique for LO's. Ok, I said "cool" way too many times. I will share all the info on this LO and website when I have a picture to post. Hopefully I will have it finished by tomorrow.

My first official BIA project

Oh my it is the beginning of another week. Were is the time going? I have been away from crafting a bit over the last week or so, not sure if it's my mojo or just life or what but I did manage to finish a project today. Not that it took me all week or anything but this is what I have to share.

I LOVE my Bind-it-All. I made some teacher gifts a month ago, the post-it note holder but it wasn't really complex or anything so I didn't really count that as anything. But this is a notebook for my daughter to use when she goes to school.

Mod Podge and I have a love hate relationship. I love that it seals the project and keeps the paper safe from everything but it makes my paper bubble up and it also makes the cover a bit tacky and sticky. Is this normal or did I somehow do something wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions of a product I can use over paper and chipboard to seal the project?

Overall though I think my daughter will love it. And I love being able to make it for her. Since I will be going to school in the fall too, I may be making some for myself.

I painted the chipboard with some pearly acrylic paint. Then I used some pattern paper from Basic Grey's Olivia collection as well as some of the sticker elements. I used some Old Olive cardstock from Stampin' UP! to line the inside of the book. And there you have it.
